However, when play got underway just before 2.30pm, Glamorgan’s openers Jacques Rudolph and Nick Selman came out showing a real attacking intent, reaching 23 without loss inside the third over.Things quickly changed, however, when Selman played a loose shot to Cameron Steel at point off Chris Rushworth. The Australian-born youngster was unable to rediscover the form which led to his first first-class century at St. Helen’s last year, when he carried his bat on his way to 122 against Northamptonshire, the first Glamorgan batsman to do so since Matthew Elliott at Cardiff in 2004.A second wicket soon followed, Rudolph finding Paul Collingwood in the slips, Glamorgan finding themselves 39 for 2. Colin Ingram joined Will Bragg at the crease needing just 39 to reach 1,000 runs across all formats this season. The South African fell 21 runs short of the milestone, giving Collingwood a second catch at slip off Coughlin for 18.More composure was evident with Aneurin Donald and Bragg at the crease, before the latter needlessly skied one to Rushworth at mid-on off James Weighell’s bowling and Glamorgan were once again struggling at 92 for 4. New batsman David Lloyd could have gone third ball, but a simple chance went begging for Ryan Pringle at slip.Having restricted Glamorgan to 112 for 4 at tea, it took just 10 balls into the final session for Durham to pick up their fifth wicket, as David Lloyd was removed by ul Collingwood at slip off Paul Coughlin for 16.Donald had reached his half-century off 74 balls before a one-handed mid-wicket catch by Keaton Jennings off James Weighell brought an end to a 42-run partnership.Andrew Salter joined Chris Cooke at the crease and an unbeaten partnership of 58 saw Glamorgan through to the close of play after the latter had reached his half-century off 83 balls, having hit eight fours along the way.

Norwich: Christian Fassnacht In Transfer Talks

Norwich City look to be on the verge of yet another signing this summer, with Derbund, via Pink Un reporting that Christian Fassnacht is in talks with the club.

Who is Christian Fassnacht?

The 29-year-old has spent the entirety of his career in his native Switzerland, having come up through the divisions and landed with Young Boys in the Swiss Super League.

He's been a success there too, with his side claiming the league title in 2022/23. The midfielder played 29 times during that campaign, 26 of which were starts, and produced eight goals with six assists. It meant that his goal contribution tally hit double-digits for the third consecutive season – only in one league campaign has he ever hit less than ten goals + assists.

He's been with his current side since the 2017/18 season and has gone on to rack up nearly 200 league outings for the club during his time there (182 to be exact). That has led to a return of 68 goals and 33 assists – impressive when you consider he plays almost exclusively out wide.

It means that he has a total rate of 0.58 goals or assists per 90 over the entirety of his time with Young Boys – meaning he guarantees one or the other in every second game he features in, extremely good numbers over such an extended period of time.

He was equally as impressive for Thun before that, with ten goals during his lone season with them.

The wide man's showings in his native country have also led to appearances for his national side. He has 19 caps to his name as things stand, with four goals, and remains involved in and around the squad on a consistent basis under Murat Yakin.

Are Norwich signing Christian Fassnacht?

Now, according to a report from Derbund, via Pink Un, the midfielder may finally be about to leave Switzerland and head to England. Championship side Norwich City are in discussions over a potential move for the Young Boys star and the report states that he has already got a medical lined up with the Canaries.

It means that once negotiations are sorted out and a medical is passed, he will almost definitely become a Norwich player – although it is unclear yet just how much he is going to set the second tier side back in terms of a transfer fee.

If Norwich do manage to get a transfer sorted though, his record makes him look like a promising signing for the club. His goal and assist record is exciting, with the midfielder regularly standing out and hitting double-digit tallies in Switzerland. There will likely be some adapting to a different country and league but the 29-year-old has also played for his country, which will be valuable experience that not every member of the Canaries squad will have.

Fassnacht then could be a deal that goes under the radar but ends up being a very good addition if Norwich complete a deal.

Dyche Could Repeat Everton’s Doucoure Move With £26m ‘Major Talent’

Everton are poised to move for Almeria forward El Bilal Toure this summer after narrowly missing out on relegation from the Premier League during the 22/23 campaign.

Could Everton sign El Bilal Toure?

While Sean Dyche's Toffees are believed to be in advanced negotiations for the Malian striker, Italian Serie A side Almeria are also considering a swoop following Manchester United's vested interest in prodigious talisman Rasmus Hojlund.

That's following some recent updates from Fabrizio Romano, underlining Atalanta's position on their "top target", but also hinting that Blues owner Farhad Moshiri could yet move; the Merseyside outfit have already blown the Nerazzurri out of the water with a €30m (£26m) bid.

The pre-eminent transfer specialist since confirmed that Almeria are honing in on Lorient's Ibrahima Kone to replace their prized asset, claiming that Everton are "pushing to make it happen".

How good is El Bilal Toure?

Just 21-years-old, Bilal Toure scored seven goals and supplied a further two assists from just 15 LaLiga starts last term after completing a transfer from Reims for €10m (£9m).

The 15-cap Mali international – with five goals to his name – would link up with compatriot Abdoulaye Doucoure at Goodison Park, and could prove to emulate the box-crashing midfielder – whose goal against Bournemouth on the final day of the season preserved Everton's top-flight status.

Praised for one "towering" performance several months ago by The Athletic's Patrick Boyland, Doucoure has been instrumental under Dyche and scored all five of his strikes last term under the 52-year-old's wing, with the former Clarets boss taking the reins in January.

Signing from Watford for £20m in 2020, the 30-year-old has demonstrated the path needed to succeed on the Blue side of Liverpool, headstrong, positive and resilient – ranking among the top 2% of midfielders across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for goals, the top 11% for touches in the attacking penalty area and the top 20% for blocks per 90, as per FBref.

abdoulaye-doucoure-premier-league-everton-transfers

Bilal Toure can indeed mirror his £120k-per-week countryman's endeavours by maintaining his similarly fruitful mentality, himself ranking among the top 4% of forwards for clearances per 90.

This illustrates tenacity and willingness to get stuck in, complementing his teammates with a bustling approach – all the while channelling his innate goalscoring instinct.

The "major talent" – as he has previously been dubbed by Graeme Bailey – boasted an average Sofascore rating of 6.81 in the league last term, taking an average of 1.4 shots per game and demonstrating his versatility by dividing his seven strikes up – four scored with his right foot, one with his left; Bilal Toure netted twice with his head.

He also bettered Everton forwards Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ellis Simms and Neal Maupay's respective Sofascore ratings (6.74, 6.62 and 6.56) which bodes well for his future fortunes.

In securing such a promising starlet, Dyche would wield a forward with genuine capabilities of spearheading an ascent to prominence once again, and it could be a big season for the Toffees if they manage to beat Atalanta and secure Bilal Toure's signature.

Leeds Plot Move For £40k-p/w Premier League Speedster

Leeds United are in desperate need of reinforcements ahead of their Championship campaign starting in a few weeks and now a new update has emerged on a potential transfer target.

What's the latest on Leeds' interest in Emmanuel Dennis?

According to Football Insider, Leeds are now considering a move for Nottingham Forest forward Emmanuel Dennis.

As per the report, the Whites are weighing up a move due to a high number of players either already departed or in the process of making moves away from Elland Road after suffering relegation to the second tier.

It is claimed that Leeds are keen to strengthen their attacking options and are now doing background checks on Dennis to ensure he is the right fit for the club.

How good is Emmanuel Dennis?

There is no doubt that after already losing Rodrigo and Brenden Aaronson this summer so far, Daniel Farke will be keen to bring in new additions who can make a difference in the final third over the Championship campaign.

The former Norwich City boss has twice masterminded promotion to the Premier League from the second tier, proving that with the right backing and full investment into his philosophy there is no reason why Leeds can't bounce back to the top flight in no time at all.

As a result, the signing of Dennis could be a major coup for the West Yorkshire club and would provide Farke with a player who could be a great replacement for Patrick Bamford – who has been linked with a move away from Elland Road of late.

Whilst the Leeds mainstay was prolific during Leeds' last spell in the second tier – scoring 16 league goals during the 2019/20 campaign – his quality and consistency has declined due to injury issues and an inability to get a good run of form together – with just 11 goals netted in all competitions over the last two seasons.

patrick-bamford-relegation-leeds-west-ham-allardyce-injury-awful

Indeed, Dennis hasn't had the best time either since making the £20m move from Watford to Forest last summer and has struggled to get consistent game-time in the top flight at the City Ground.

Over 19 Premier League appearances last season, the 25-year-old scored two goals, registered two assists and created one big chance, whilst averaging just 39 minutes per performance which made it difficult for the versatile forward to deliver at the best of his ability.

Having said that, in the 2021/22 season – despite being relegated with Watford – the Nigeria international was a stand-out performer for the club due to getting more minutes at Vicarage Road – scoring ten goals and registering six assists over 36 appearances, with a goal contribution every 176 minutes, which could be incredibly valuable if he could emulate this output at Leeds next season.

Dennis has been the recipient of high praise over his career so far, with former Watford boss Claudio Ranieri full of compliments for his striker when he was managing the side in the Premier League:

"[Dennis] is a very talented player. He’s fast, has good skill, always runs straight to the goal – I love these kinds of players."

Indeed, it is likely that the £40k-per-week menace will compete with Bamford for the starting spot in the centre-forward role, however, Dennis has experience also playing on the wider flanks of the forward line, so could be easily rotated in the team to give Farke more options across multiple positions.

With that being said, if Leeds can get a good deal for Dennis it would be a great piece of business for the club in their challenge to dominate the Championship next season, albeit while proving bad news for Bamford in his possible hopes of securing a regular starting berth.

Chandimal left out for first two Zimbabwe ODIs

Dinesh Chandimal has been left out of Sri Lanka’s squad for the first two ODIs against Zimbabwe. Uncapped 19-year-old spin allrounder Wanidu Hasaranga was named in the 13-member team, with recalls for spinner Akila Dananjaya and seamer Lahiru Madushanka, along with fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera, who has not played international cricket since December 2016.Chandimal, Sri Lanka’s highest run-getter in ODIs in 2016, with 656 runs at an average of 59.63, has had a lean 2017, scoring 178 runs at 22.25. In the recent Champions Trophy, he scored only 12 runs in two innings.

SL squad for first two ODIs

Angelo Mathews (c), Upul Tharanga, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Asela Gunaratne, Wanidu Hasaranga, Lakshan Sandakan, Akila Dananjaya, Nuwan Pradeep, Lasith Malinga, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Madushanka.

Sri Lanka’s cricket manager and selector Asanka Gurusinha stressed that Chandimal remained a part of the team management’s plans and had been left out of the squad in order to try a few youngsters in the matches in Galle. “We only selected the side for the first two games. We haven’t selected the side for the rest of the series,” Gurusinha said. “We are looking at different combinations and that’s one of the reasons why we have selected this team to play in Galle. The conditions in Galle will be a bit different to those in Hambantota. If we are bringing in any youngsters, we wanted to make sure we have some senior players in the team as well.”We didn’t want to bring 4-5 youngsters in the team. And that is the reason – with Danushka opening and batting well and Upul just coming back after suspension and scoring runs we went with that combination, so Upul to play and that’s the only reason Dinesh as left out of this squad. But he is in our plans.”Hasaranga’s induction, Gurusinha said, was to allow him to gain greater exposure with seniors like Angelo Mathews, Upul Tharanga and Lasith Malinga in the team. In the Under-19 World Cup last year, Hasaranga was among Sri Lanka’s highest wicket-takers, with seven dismissals, and also scored 93 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 101.08.”Wanidu has been playing well. He has been one of the best fielders in Sri Lanka right now, he’s batting well, in form and he has that option of legspin bowling.”Dananjaya has played only one ODI in his career so far – in 2012 – apart from five T20l appearances, the last of which came in 2013. Madhushanka, meanwhile, made his international debut on Sri Lanka’s tour of South Africa earlier this year, playing three ODIs and taking four wickets.Chameera makes a comeback after recent struggles with injury. He had not played any international cricket after the Port Elizabeth Test against South Africa in December 2016, his only international appearance since he suffered a stress fracture to his lower back on the England tour earlier in the year.

Tottenham: Spurs Weighing Move For "The Best" Striker

Tottenham Hotspur are "considering a move" for Flamengo star Pedro with star striker Harry Kane's future uncertain, according to journalist Miguel Delaney.

Who will Spurs sign?

New manager Ange Postecoglou has been left delighted with some of the business Spurs have conducted so far this summer, England international James Maddison in particular.

The former Leicester City playmaker has officially joined Postecoglou's side with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and winger Manor Solomon, with Tottenham's head coach expressing his excitement recently.

“Really excited to get James as part of the group," said the Australian.

"Any manager will tell you that part of the key to being a dominant team is having multiple attacking threats and having a midfielder who can score and create goals.

“They’re not easy to come by. He’s proven himself at that lvel in the last few years as somebody who can do that. When you look at Tottenham the last few years, they’ve been really reliant on the front three to get their goals.

“I thought it was a really good fit for us to look for a player like James – even better if we could get James, so we ended up getting James."

However, Tottenham aren't though to be finished just yet, as links still surround the signing of a new first team centre-back. Indeed, Wolfsburg's Micky van de Ven. Meanwhile, Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen, Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo, Barcelona's Clement Lenglet, Galatasary's Victor Nelsson and Bremer have all been linked with moves.

Spurs, with Kane's contract expiring in just 12 months, are also now being tipped to potentially source a replacement if their superstar doesn't pen fresh terms with the north Londoners.

There have even been suggestions that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who will command a large transfer fee, is a player of serious interest to chairman Daniel Levy.

Now, according to Delaney of The Independent, Spurs could look across the Atlantic for options as news emerges on Flamengo's exciting star Pedro.

Flamengo's Pedro during the warm up before the match

Tottenham are apparently "considering a move" for the 26-year-old, who was called up to Brazil's squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

While he struggled at Fiorentina four years ago, there is a feeling the big move came too early and he is now ready to ply his trade in Europe's top five leagues once again.

He is one of many options they're weighing right now, as Kane leaving is now seen as much more realistic given the uncertainty surrounding his contract.

How good is Pedro?

The Rio-born forward boasts a fine scoring record for Flamengo in the Brazilian top flight, having netted an impressive 93 goals and a further 23 assists in 141 Brasiliero Serie A appearances (Transfermarkt).

Pedro has also been praised by footballing icon Ronaldo, not just as a "quality striker", but also the "best player" in America right now.

"The top scorer and Craque of the Brasileirão will be Pedro," said Ronaldo.

"Also the best player in America in 2023. Pedro is a quality striker who makes the difference in Flamengo's attack, he has a huge future ahead of him, with a future also in the national team".

Norwich City Ask For £8.5m In Any Deal For Milot Rashica

Norwich City are locked in a stalemate over the potential transfer of Milot Rashica, with Nevzat Dindar, via Pink Un, reporting that the Canaries want £8.5m for the winger this summer.

How many goals has Milot Rashica scored for Norwich?

The 27-year-old didn't play for the Championship club during the 2022/23 season, instead spending the campaign out on loan with Galatasaray in the Super Lig. The Turkish side, who are now wanting to add him to their ranks permanently, managed to get four goals and six assists from the winger in the league over the course of 26 appearances. It meant that his goal contribution per 90 tally stood at 0.53 – the second-best of his career, showing how the side were able to get the best out of the forward.

The Canaries so far have failed to see the same output from Rashica in England. Having signed him back in 2021/22 when they were in the Premier League, he managed only one goal and two assists in 31 division outings as the club finished rock bottom of the table. With the side condemned to the Championship, he played four times for them in the second tier, with one assist, before heading to Turkey on a short-term basis.

Are Norwich City selling Milot Rashica?

Now, Galatasaray want to bring him back to the club permanently – doing a deal for the 27-year-old this summer though seemingly won't be easy. That's because, according to a report from Nevzat Dindar, via Pink Un, Norwich have laid out the fee that they want for the forward – but the Super Lig outfit are not prepared to pay it.

The EFL side want around 10 million Euros (£8.5m) in order to sell Rashica this summer. That would mean that they generate a similar fee to the amount they initially stumped up to bring him in. However, even though he has impressed in Turkey, the European giants are not keen to spend so much money on the winger. Instead, they will only go as high as 7 million Euros according to this report (or £6m). It would leave the Super Lig side over £2m off the asking price – so right now, it appears a potential deal is at a stalemate.

The best solution for both sides may be to reach a compromise and sell the 27-year-old on. His time with Norwich hasn't resulted in the kind of performances that the second tier outfit would want, with his small goal contribution tally meaning he hasn't repaid much of the money they initially spent on him.

He is also now playing for them whilst they are in the Championship – and with the signing made during their stint in the Premier League, it may be better to get him off the books so they can use the extra funds elsewhere. Right now though, it appears as though the two sides are at an impasse – and something will have to give for a transfer to get over the line.

Murtagh puts seal on crushing Middlesex win

On the day of the summer solstice, the reigning county champions have their first victory of summer. Yorkshire were not defeated so much as eviscerated

Tim Wigmore at Lord's21-Jun-2017
ScorecardOn the day of the summer solstice, the reigning county champions have their first victory of summer. Yorkshire were not defeated so much as eviscerated and did not even have the small solace of an early return home, thanks to a sponsors’ dinner. For Middlesex this was vindication for the depth of their squad. The club has taken great delight in this week’s inclusion, for England Lions or the senior team, of Nick Gubbins, Dawid Malan and Tom Helm. Thrashing Yorkshire while short of these players is testament to their sturdiness. And it hinted at a growing trend: how leading Division One counties are stockpiling talent in a manner reminiscent of Premier League football clubs.Middlesex’s second-choice bowling attack when everyone is available – Helm or Murtagh, James Harris, James Fuller and Harry Podmore, alongside the left-arm spinner Ravi Patel – is formidable. Their batting depth is equally impressive: this victory was secured in spite of three of their normal top five being absent – Adam Voges as well as Gubbins and Malan – not even mentioning Eoin Morgan, who seems unlikely to ever play first-class cricket again for the county.Max Holden, a 19-year-old opener on loan at Northants, scored a high-class Championship century at Chester-le-Street earlier this month too. So it is no exaggeration to say that, at full strength, Middlesex’s second-choice XI would be better than many – perhaps even most – Division Two counties. Two months ago, Middlesex were denied a victory against Essex at Lord’s by a combination of a cautious decision not to enforce the follow-on and fourth-day showers. James Franklin considered it a “no-brainer” to decide differently after Steve Finn’s 500th first-class wicket secured a 238-run first-innings lead. There was the threat of showers on the final day; there was also a palpable sense of uncertainty in Yorkshire’s batting line-up to exploit. And there was, in Tim Murtagh, a bowler just shy of 250 wickets at the ground. The unthreatening shuffle in was familiar; so was pace of the sort that would seldom alarm a motorway speed camera. But so was the late wobble, the relentless harassing of the off stump and unerring accuracy. Murtagh’s exemplary opening spell amounted to 2 for 2 in six overs, accounting for Adam Lyth to a ball angled across him, and then Harry Brook, who reacted to the worst ball Murtagh bowled by slashing it behind. And when Toby Roland-Jones promptly dismissed Alex Lees prodding to second slip, Yorkshire were suddenly 16 for 3.Brook’s dismissal meant that, 37 minutes after he walked off 69 not out at the termination of Yorkshire’s first innings, Gary Ballance returned to bat in their second. Ballance vigils have been the cornerstone of Yorkshire’s season; this time, though, he had only been at the crease an hour before feathering the second ball after lunch, a sharp delivery from Roland-Jones, which angled across him and kept low, behind. And, with that, Ballance’s Championship average in 2017 plunged to a mere 101.87. As stupendous as the figure is, it does not reflect well on Yorkshire’s team-mates that Ballance has contributed 24.6% of the team’s runs this season. In the last round at Taunton, Ballance’s team-mates supplied only two half-centuries in the match between them. Here, they did not contribute a single one – and nor, after Peter Handscomb succumbed cutting Finn to Nick Compton at point, did they really threaten to. Ollie Rayner whisked in with four wickets, aided by some distinctly obliging batting, and the victory was sealed a little after tea, when Ryan Sidebottom bottom-edged an attempted reverse sweep onto his toe to short leg. Somehow, it rather summed Yorkshire’s limp batting display up.”To be bowled out twice like we have is poor,” said Andrew Gale, Yorkshire’s coach. “We had a long chat and some strong words about the batting at Taunton and some more strong words in this game. We expect a response.”We changed things up slightly by leaving Jack Leaning out, and there’s lads in the second team banging on the door. We’ll have to see where that takes us.” Selecting Tom Kohler-Cadmore, the new recruit from Worcestershire, is an increasingly attractive option.Franklin could reflect not only on a terrific team display but also on more assistance from a Lord’s wicket that has not always been Middlesex’s friend.”There’s been a conscious decision to leave more grass on it. Visually it looks different,” he said. “After day one, Sam came in after scoring 150 not out and said it was a tricky wicket, and all the boys laughed at him. He was right. When bowlers got it in the right areas it was a tough wicket to bat on. Our bowlers asked serious questions of their batsmen.”And so, while Middlesex’s wickets in the game were shared among six bowlers, none of whom claimed more than five wickets, Yorkshire were inordinately dependent on just two batsmen – Ballance and Handscomb – to make their runs. The return of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow next week, as well as probably Tim Bresnan, will provide a welcome palliative. But without substantive improvements in the top order – above all Lyth and Alex Lees, who are averaging only 26.13 between them in the Championship – Yorkshire’s problems threaten to be reoccurring, especially if Ballance’s gluttony is rewarded by an England recall.

New BCCI committee to identify hurdles in implementing Lodha reforms

The new committee will identify “exceptional and extremely limited areas of difficulty” in the implementation of the Supreme Court’s order of July 2016 and the passing of key Lodha reforms

Arun Venugopal26-Jun-20171:49

‘Areas of difficulty with Lodha reform will be brought before the CoA’ – Choudhary

Nearly a year after the Supreme Court judgement approving a majority of the Lodha Committee recommendations, the BCCI has set up a committee of its own to identify “exceptional and extremely limited areas of difficulty” in the implementation of the reforms. The committee’s suggestions will be presented to the Committee of Administrators, a court-appointed panel tasked with running the board until fresh elections under the Lodha guidelines. No CoA representative is part of this new BCCI committee, which was announced during the board’s special general meeting in Mumbai on Monday.’Wait till selection of the World XI’

BCCI’s acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary was non-committal when asked if India’s players would be available to participate in a proposed T20 series in Lahore.
The ICC Board, on Friday, extended its support to the idea of a World XI side playing Pakistan in Pakistan as part of efforts to bring international cricket back to the country. Choudhary, however, said it was premature to discuss if India will play any role in it.
“We should wait till the selection of the World XI because it is possible that if those matches are scheduled alongside any of our series than obviously none of our players will be eligible, will they?” he said. “So, we will have to wait for that. I think it’s fair.”

This move seems likely to delay the implementation of the reforms, which were approved by the Supreme Court in July 2016, but the BCCI acting secretary, Amitabh Choudhary, has said it was formed with the intention of examining “how best to quickly implement [the recommendations].” Choudhary stated the committee, whose members will be named on Tuesday, will offer their report in a fortnight. It is understood that apart from Choudhary, who will play the role of the convener, acting board president CK Khanna, treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary and a member from a north-east association are likely to be among the “five or six” members of the committee. They will have to come up with a decision on this matter before July 14, when the Supreme Court is set to hear the case again.”The house deliberated in detail and with a view to completing the implementation process, constituted a committee which will examine how best quickly to implement [the recommendations],” Choudhary told reporters. “The committee should have its first recommendations in a fortnight’s time. So, that’s as far as the implementation of the principal judgment is concerned.””The committee will go into each and every action point necessitated by the principal judgment and then only those exceptional and extremely limited areas of difficulty would bring it to the notice of the CoA, which will thereafter decide the course of action.”Choudhary added that another SGM would have to be convened to approve the proposals of the committee which “will start its work in two days’ time and the rest will follow.”The BCCI is likely to have another special general meeting to approve the proposals put forward by the panel looking into the difficulties of implementing key Lodha reforms.•PTI The BCCI is inclined towards incorporating most of the Lodha committee’s recommendations, a board official told ESPNcricinfo, except for policies such as the age cap of 70 years for office bearers, the tenure cap of nine years with cooling-off periods in between, the one-state-one-vote policy and the trimming down of the number of selectors from five to three. These recommendations had drawn opposition from the BCCI even before the court’s order last year and on Monday a senior state association official from the west zone indicated nothing had changed. “How can I let go of my vote?” asked the official. “These are the recommendations that the committee will have to sit down and decide on.”Some of the delay in the BCCI adopting the Lodha reforms has been because the state associations are averse to them, but when asked to list the recommendations that have been met with objections, Chaudhary said the board would convey their thoughts to the Supreme Court directly. For a while now, the CoA has urged the board’s member units to identify a few points of objection, which could be raised with the Supreme Court even as the other recommendations were implemented. A CoA official sounded optimistic of the BCCI toeing the Supreme Court’s line after the meeting on Sunday.”They understand that implementing Lodha is not an option [but is mandatory],” he told ESPNcricinfo. “So what is the point in obstructing and dragging it further? What we have told them is if you adopt the report with the two-three points you want the court to consider then the court will also look at it favourably. Otherwise the CoA will be left with no other option than to ask the court to enforce.”
