'I don't know anything!' – Swedish wonderkid keeps close cards to his chest amid links with dream Man Utd move

Kevin Filling has quickly become one of Europe’s most-watched teenage talents but the Swedish striker insists he’s staying grounded despite growing transfer noise. With Manchester United and Aston Villa circling the AIK prodigy, the youngster remains focused on cementing his place at Stockholm. For now, he says, “I don’t know anything” and prefers to let his football do the talking.

United and Villa eye Swedish teen sensation

According to FotbollDirekt, United have turned their attention to AIK Fotboll’s Filling and have added him among their latest targets. The 16-year-old forward has made headlines with both United and Villa having initiated contact with AIK for a potential deal.

The initial reports suggested “concrete negotiations,” but Swedish media quickly dismissed those claims. Still, both English clubs have sent scouts to monitor the teenager, who’s played eight Allsvenskan matches this season, scoring two goals in just 204 minutes of play.

Filling, who joined AIK’s youth setup in 2023 after stints at Vaseteras and IK Franke, has been on a steady rise. In 2025, he even spent a brief loan spell with Enkopings in Ettan Norra, Sweden’s third tier, scoring once in three appearances. His progress hasn’t gone unnoticed, and AIK’s €5 million valuation underlines their belief in his potential. United and Villa, however, are reportedly willing to pay no more than €3 million.

AdvertisementGetty Images SportFilling maintains composure amid the hype

For all the transfer buzz, the teenager himself remains unfazed. Speaking to Expressen, Filling brushed off the speculation with maturity well beyond his years.

“It’s nothing special. I don’t know much. I’m focused on AIK and that’s where all my focus lies. So, I’ll just continue there.”

When pressed on whether he’s thinking about his future, his answer was even simpler:

“No. I don’t know anything, so no, I’m not thinking about it that much."

The Swedish youngster further shares that he is only focused on developing at AIK and getting regular minutes as soon as possible.

“To take a starting place in the team and do as well as I can in every match and every chance I get. I want to continue and deliver more points."

Despite turning heads across Europe, Filling knows that any move to England would be a long-term project. Under FIFA’s transfer rules, he cannot move to the UK until November 2026, when he turns 18, though a deal can be agreed in advance.

The youngster’s grounded attitude has impressed coaches and scouts alike. Sources in Sweden describe him as a “focused, humble and analytical player”. AIK currently sit fourth in the Allsvenskan table.

The making of Kevin Filling

Filling's rise has been marked by consistency over hype as he is turning heads across Europe. Born in November 2008, Filling honed his early skills at IK Franke and Vasteras before joining the AIK academy in 2023. He quickly established himself as one of their most promising talents, standing out due to his composure, positional sense, and remarkable maturity on the ball.

The 2024-25 season proved to be his breakthrough year. At just 16, Filling made his Allsvenskan debut for AIK and immediately found the net in a dominant 3-0 victory against IFK Goteborg. His subsequent performances reflect a rare combination of precision and maturity as he registered eight shots and scored two goals. Crucially, he achieved this while keeping a clean disciplinary record.

AIK coaches praise his “instinctive finishing and calmness beyond his years,” traits that have captured the attention of the Red Devils. Filling's development is a prime example of the modern football trend: elite clubs are now prioritising young, tactically intelligent forwards who combine technical skill and mental sharpness over sheer physical power.

Filling’s future remains in Sweden, and that may be the best place for him. AIK are determined to protect their gem, with sporting directors reiterating that “no sale is planned in the winter.” The club see him as a central figure in their 2026 plans, aiming to challenge Malmo and Djurgarden for domestic dominance.

Meanwhile, United and Villa continue to watch closely. Both are in contact with AIK, and United, under INEOS ownership, are expanding their European scouting reach, especially in Scandinavia, a region that has recently produced stars like Rasmus Hojlund and Alexander Isak. Reports suggest that United's plan for Filling involves a strategic developmental loan to Lausanne-Sport, an INEOS-owned club, to ease his transition and acclimatisation within their operational structure.

Jofra Archer: 'I will do everything in my power to be on plane to Australia'

Fast bowler keen to play both remaining Tests against India before touring with Ashes party

Jofra Archer made an impressive Test return at Lord’s•Getty Images

Jofra Archer has reiterated his desire to be involved in the winter’s Ashes after making a stirring return to Test cricket in England’s dramatic victory over India at Lord’s.Archer had not played a Test for more than four years due to a combination of elbow and back injuries, but finally made his return in whites after a carefully managed comeback. He took a wicket with his third ball and then produced key interventions in India’s fourth-innings chase, on the way to match figures of 5 for 105.Having got through 39.2 overs, while maintaining his speeds in the region of 90mph/145kph, Archer will now have a week to recover before the fourth Test, which starts at Old Trafford on July 23. He said he would be keen to play in both remaining matches against India, though England will likely closely manage his workloads.Related

Sledging, swearing, send-offs – Lord's needling promises explosive series ahead

Six years on from World Cup glory, Stokes and Archer light up Lord's again

Archer said in a post-match interview with Sky Sports that his overs “are still marked out for me until December”, which hints at how meticulous England’s planning has been. But a successful return has whetted his appetite for featuring against Australia, more than six years on from his previous Ashes experience.”I can play the other two [against India] if they let me,” he said. “I don’t want to lose this series. I told Keysey [England men’s managing director, Rob Key] I wanted to play the Test summer and I wanted to play the Ashes. I think one tick is already there and I will do everything possible in my power to be on the plane in November.”Archer’s first outing under the captain-coach combination of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum could scarcely have gone better, with the bowler glad that the long periods in rehab had paid off.”Obviously it [Test cricket] would have been the format which would have taken the most time to come back to. So I played 50-over [and] T20 for the last year, year and a half, two years. And you always just wondered… the guys have played some really exciting cricket since Baz [McCullum] took over. I think the mentality of the team under Baz suits the way I like to play my cricket. So, you know, I just couldn’t wait to get back and actually do it without having to be prompted to do it.”His first wicket, Yashasvi Jaiswal caught at second slip, prompted an emotional celebration – although Archer was more analytical when assessing the moment after the game.”With the slope, that’s how I bowl to left-handers anyway. So, I guess it was just a matter of when, if I kept bowling like that. I can’t imagine many left-handers getting away with it.”He was also notably pumped up on day five, giving Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar send-offs as he and Stokes made the key breakthroughs to undermine India’s attempts to pull off a chase 193. Archer said afterwards that his comment to Pant “wasn’t a proud moment” but was part of a conscious team effort to be less “nice” as England sought to secure a 2-1 lead in the series.”I think everybody had a word today,” he said. “It was nice that everybody… we went together as a group, as a pack basically. And, you know, it didn’t matter if it wasn’t just the bowler, you had the whole slip cordon, you had cover, you had mid-off. You had everybody going in with you. It’s days like this that make Test cricket feel special.

Not just Beto: Moyes must drop 5/10 Everton star who made just 17 passes

Everton were the latest victims of Erling Haaland’s goalscoring wrath when the Toffees travelled to Manchester City on Saturday.

Premier League action is back after the international break, which means the Nordic monster that is Haaland is also back to terrifying top-flight defences, with the lethal 25-year-old finishing off another fine day at the office with a brace against David Moyes’ men.

While the Citizens continue to love life, knowing they have the robotic finishing ability of the Norwegian to hand, Everton continue to feel frustrated by their own striker options.

Beto – once again – fired blanks from minimal opportunities at the Etihad, with Moyes surely at the end of his tether when it comes to his goal-shy number nine.

Beto's poor performances

Before Haaland inevitably broke the deadlock, Everton had several chances of their own to cause an upset on the road.

Wth just 14 minutes on the clock, Beto had a glorious chance to gift Moyes and Co the lead, with Iliman Ndiaye’s quick feet initially getting the better of the City defence, before the Portuguese attacker then couldn’t get a meaningful connection on the ex-Sheffield United winger’s inviting delivery into the box.

That horrible miss by the former Udinese man is the tale of a season that’s worryingly unravelling for the 27-year-old, who has bounced back from similar barren patches of form before.

Indeed, the 6-foot-4 centre-forward would fire home an electric five strikes across Moyes’ first seven games back in the Merseyside hot-seat, after only managing a weak seven goals across 50 games under Sean Dyche.

Now, though, he is right back in the mire, with his last Premier League goal falling all the way back in August in a 3-2 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pundit Pat Nevin, after the City loss, even stated that Beto’s no-show would no doubt “infuriate” Toffees supporters watching on, with Everton-based writer Ell Bretland going as far as to also openly state that the number nine’s wastefulness is beginning to have a “really negative effect” way before the 2-0 defeat.

Moyes will have been left with a lot to ponder about his upcoming team selections; therefore, with Beto not the only noticeable underperformer who might be axed for Everton’s next match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Alongside Beto: Another Everton star must be dropped

The former West Ham United boss would have been cursing Jack Grealish’s ineligibility for this tie at the Etihad, with the skilful attacker not allowed to line up against his parent employers.

In his place, the Glaswegian would throw Carlos Alcaraz out to the left channel, and based on his lacklustre afternoon, he is unlikely to be retained in this position moving forward.

In the Argentine’s defence, it’s clear from the table above that he excels more from a central spot in the Everton XI, with four of his six overall goal contributions to date in Merseyside coming from a number ten role. For Southampton as well, Alcaraz only ever made one outright appearance down the left flank.

Moyes’ decision to shoehorn the South American into this spot didn’t work whatsoever, with the forgettable number 24 only managing one tame effort at Gianluigi Donnarumma’s goal from his poor 70 minutes on the pitch.

Moreover, he only amassed a meagre 26 touches with zero dribbles attempted, with Jordan Pickford in between the sticks for the away side, even managing to reach 43 touches come the full-time whistle.

When Spurs do come to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, it looks very unlikely that Alcaraz will remain on the left wing, with his tally of no goals and assists over the entire season to date also making it look rather slim that he will usurp the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in his more familiar number ten position.

Liverpool Echo journalist Chris Beesley dished out a low 5/10 rating to Alcaraz subsequently, with the reporter stating that the ex-Saints man is “far less effective” when moved out to the wing.

Moyes will, hopefully, have learnt his lesson in this regard, with the Scotsman also perhaps ready to ditch Beto as a refreshed Toffees attack potentially takes to the field against Thomas Frank’s challengers.

Arsenal star who's like "a wild horse on the loose" is becoming the new Rice

To say that Arsenal are unrecognisable as a club today from the one Mikel Arteta took charge of over five years ago would be an understatement.

The Spaniard has helped to completely overhaul the club from top to bottom and has signed some incredible players in the process.

One of his very best additions to the squad has undoubtedly been Declan Rice, who was once again incredible in the Champions League this week.

And now, it looks like another of Arteta’s signings is transforming into a Rice-type player this season.

Rice's best European nights for Arsenal

Since joining the club for £105m in the summer of 2023, Rice has made 26 appearances for Arsenal in the Champions League, in which he has scored four goals, provided four assists and averaged 2.12 points per game.

Chalkboard

Football FanCast’s Chalkboard series presents a tactical discussion from around the global game.

It would be fair to say that across those 26 games, he has been pretty incredible for the North Londoners, but when it comes to picking out his best European nights in red and white, there are three that stick out, the first of which is the home game against Paris Saint-Germain in the league phase last season.

It was a game the Gunners comfortably won 2-0, and one in which the former West Ham United captain totally bossed the Parisians’ smaller and, at the time, out-of-form midfield.

Arsenal's DeclanRicecelebrates after the match

The Englishman didn’t pick up a goal or assist in that game, but he did do that in his second-best Champions League display for the club, which came on Wednesday this week.

Arteta started his record signing in the left eight against Atlético Madrid, and as fans have now come to expect, he was cool, calm and composed on the ball and a physical monster off of it.

Moreover, he provided the assist for Gabriel Magalhães’ opener, and then it was his corner that eventually led to Viktor Gyokeres’ second goal, and the team’s fourth.

However, while the 26-year-old was great against Atleti, he was out of this world against Real Madrid in the quarter-finals last season.

The midfield machine put in an extraordinary shift at the Bernabéu, but it was the home leg where he was utterly sublime, stopping everything in the middle of the park and then scoring those two world-class free-kicks.

In short, while he cost a lot of money, Rice has been worth every penny for Arsenal, and now another of Arteta’s signings is starting to embody some of his best traits.

Arsenal's new Rice-type star

Due to Arteta’s brilliant signings and Hale End’s production of talent, there is no shortage of incredible players in Arsenal’s squad, but the player who is becoming something of a Rice-type star is Riccardo Calafiori.

Now, it’s worth noting that this doesn’t mean they are the same type of player, as that would be a silly thing to suggest.

However, there are some increasingly obvious similarities between the pair, with the first being their mentality.

Like the Englishman, since coming back from his string of injuries that kept him out for most of last season, the former Bologna star has played like a man possessed.

Not only is he someone who can and does bound forward with the ball at his feet, but he’s also more than happy to get into a physical duel with an opponent to try and keep the ball or win it. As The Telegraph’s Sam Dean aptly put it, he plays like a “wild horse on the loose.”

On top of that, he is also a sensational striker of the ball, and while he isn’t delivering set-pieces, it has been on show in the goals he has scored over the last year, and even those that have been disallowed, like that unreal volley against Fulham last weekend.

Moreover, like the former West Ham man, the Italian international seems to have limitless energy, and this season has been allowed the freedom to roam here, there and everywhere on the pitch.

This “positionless” approach in games, as one analyst puts it, makes him a nightmare for opponents to defend against and could help him snuff out counters before they have a chance to get out of their half at times.

Finally, the Rome-born titan is also one of the best in his position in the league, as according to FBref, he ranks in the top 2% of full-backs for expected goals, shots, goal-creating actions, the top 6% for shot-creating actions, the top 17% for tackles in the attacking third and more, all per 90.

Arsenal's "future captain" is being given the Ramsdale treatment by Arteta

As Arsenal have improved in recent seasons under Mikel Arteta, supporters have had to come to terms with moving on from beloved players.

When the team was underperforming, it is easy for fans to say good riddance to players they felt no attachment to, naming no names, but this has not been the case in the last three years as the Gunners have challenged for the Premier League title again.

For example, Hale End graduates Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah struggled for minutes during their final season at the club before being sold.

Meantime, when Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus arrived from Manchester City, they changed everything, elevating the standards and improving the team but, once Arsenal reached Man City’s level, the pair became surplus to requirements.

Former number one, Aaron Ramsdale, was another who was ruthlessly thrown to one side, Arteta favouring David Raya instead.

So now, is one of the most popular members of the current squad in danger of becoming the latest player phased out by Arteta?

Aaron Ramsdale's rise and fall at Arsenal

When Ramsdale joined Arsenal from Sheffield United for around £30m in the summer of 2021, there was much bemusement about the signing; why were the club paying such a huge amount for a guy who’d been relegated in both of the last two seasons?

Well, the young Englishman would quickly prove everybody wrong, usurping Bernd Leno as number one four games into the season, starting 76 consecutive Premier League games thereafter.

Ramsdale was a key figure in Arsenal’s first title challenge, thereby named in the 2022/23 PFA Team of the Year, alongside teammates William Saliba, Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka.

The goalkeeper was therefore rewarded with a new contract, in which he emotionally discussed how he feels the love from the supporters, stating that he could not imagine calling anywhere else home.

Well, a matter of weeks later, Raya had arrived, quickly dislodging Ramsdale as number one, with the Englishman making just 11 appearances in 2023/24, three of which came against Brentford with Raya ineligible, before being sold to Southampton.

When Raya was signed, few Gooners were onboard with this, having taken Ramsdale to their hearts, but ultimately Arteta has been proved right, with the Spaniard keeping 45 clean sheets in 105 appearances for the club, a feat the boss described as “unbelievable”, adding “I was hammered when I brought him”.

So, is another beloved player in danger of following in Ramsdale’s footsteps and being reluctantly sold?

Arsenal star in danger of becoming Ramsdale 2.0

So far this season, Riccardo Calafiori has started all seven Premier League matches at left-back, thereby consigning Myles Lewis-Skelly to the bench.

Thus, the 19-year-old’s only starts to date have come against Port Vale and Olympiacos, seeing just 83 minutes across five substitute cameos in the league.

Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly in action with Real Madrid'sRodrygo

Last season was very much Lewis-Skelly’s breakout year; on 8 October 2024, he was starting for the U21s against Milton Keynes in the EFL Trophy in front of 2,427 before, six months later, starting both legs of Champions League quarter-finals against Real Madrid and then the semi-finals against Paris Saint-Germain.

This led to Adam Keys labelling him a “sensational talent” while club insider, Hand of Arsenal, even suggested that people at Colney believe he is a “future captain”. The table below underlines his importance last season.

As the table rubberstamps, despite the fact he did not make his first Premier League start until 14 December against Everton, Lewis-Skelly was a pivotal figure for Arsenal, with only Saliba completing a higher percentage of his passes, also ranking highly for defensive metrics too, memorably scoring his first senior goal during the demolition of Manchester City.

So, why has he fallen down the pecking order this time round?

Well, Arteta has stated that “sometimes it’s form, sometimes it’s the fact that we want to do certain things in relation to the opposition”.

Despite this lack of club minutes, Lewis-Skelly has been called up by Thomas Tuchel, having started England’s 2-0 win over Andorra at Villa Park last month, hoping for more minutes against Wales at Wembley on Thursday and then Latvia next week.

Tuchel himself has expressed his concern about the teenager’s lack of club minutes, but is this a major issue long-term?

Well, Calafiori has certainly proved himself to be very injury prone, both since arriving at Arsenal and before; the beginning of this season is the first time he’s started seven successive league matches since February 2024.

Also, the Gunners will be hoping to play as many as 65 matches this season across all competitions, so there will be plenty of opportunities for Lewis-Skelly who, just like Ramsdale, signed a new contract in the summer, but will be hoping to avoid a similarly abrupt ending to his Arsenal career. For now, however, he’s been surprisingly bumped down the pecking order, just as the goalkeeper was.

Arsenal sold Hale End's answer to Gyokeres for £4m, now he's worth 464% more

As Viktor Gyökeres continues to find his feet at Arsenal, did the Gunners sell their own home grown version for just £4m, now worth 464% more?

England to play only one Ashes warm-up match, against England Lions

England will play only one official practice match, against England Lions at Lilac Hill in Perth, in preparation for the first Ashes Test in late November.Cricket Australia announced on Thursday that the fixture would be part of a three-match England Lions tour that will run concurrently with the Ashes series in Australia.England will play a three-day red-ball game at Lilac Hill, the home of Midland Guildford Cricket Club in Perth’s eastern suburbs, from November 13-15 ahead of the first Ashes Test starting at Perth’s Optus Stadium on November 21. Lilac Hill was once the traditional first tour stop for all international teams when visiting Australia throughout the 1990s as the visiting Test team would play a 50-over festival game to kick off the tour. That tradition has long been shelved with touring teams not even playing matches against Australian state sides any more. England have opted to follow a similar pre-tour preparation that India had in Australia last year, except India’s only intra-squad match was played behind closed doors at the WACA ground with no media or outsiders allowed in.There is no ability to close off Lilac Hill to the public as it is open parkland alongside the Swan River. The WACA ground is unavailable on November 13-14 owing to a Sheffield Shield game being scheduled between Western Australia and Queensland on November 11-14, but both Australia and England will likely have access to the WACA ground for centre-wicket training and net sessions in the days leading up to the first Test. While England will play just one practice game before the first Test in Perth, it’s understood they may play another a two-day fixture in Canberra against the Prime Minister’s XI in between the first and second Test at the Gabba, which will be a pink-ball day-night Test. The Prime Minister’s XI match is yet to be confirmed but it could double as England’s pink-ball warm-up for the Gabba.Meanwhile, England Lions will play three fixtures in total on their concurrent tour of Australia. Following the England game, they will play a second four-day match at the same Lilac Hill venue against a Cricket Australia XI that will likely comprise of developing fringe Australian domestic and Under-19 players who will not be playing in the Shield round that starts on November 22.Shoaib Bashir played for England Lions on an Australia tour in January and February•Getty Images

The Lions will then travel to Brisbane with the England Test squad and play a four-day game against an Australia A team at Allan Border Field on December 5-8, while the second Ashes Test at the Gabba runs from December 4-8. The two Lions games running alongside the Test matches could allow England’s management to play some of their Test squad members if they are not selected in the XIs for the first two Tests.Australia’s selectors may field a stronger team for the Australia A fixture in Brisbane but again it will run up against the sixth round of the Shield.”The reciprocal A series against the England Lions is important for Australian cricket giving our players the chance to perform against high calibre opposition,” CA head of cricket operations and scheduling Peter Roach said. “We’re confident this series will complement what should be a fiercely contested Ashes series and have strong benefits for both countries.”It is a big year of Australia A cricket opportunities with the recently completed series against Sri Lanka A and tour of India in September before the Lions series.”It will be the second Lions tour to Australia this year after they played three red-ball matches against CA XI and Australia A in January and February in Brisbane and Sydney.Injured England Test offspinner Shoaib Bashir played all three matches on that tour while seamers Josh Tongue and Sam Cook, who have both played Tests for England recently, also played on that tour.England Lions tour scheduleNov 13-15: England v England Lions | Lilac Hill (Perth)
Nov 21-24: CA XI v England Lions | Lilac Hill (Perth)
Dec 5-8: Australia A v England Lions | Allan Border Field (Brisbane)

Rob Manfred Addresses Public Doubt of Athletics' Planned Relocation to Las Vegas

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred discussed a handful of topics with reporters on Wednesday at league headquarters, including the latest with the Oakland Athletics' proposed relocation to Las Vegas.

The A's played their final game at the Coliseum in the East Bay in September and plan to play the next three seasons in Sacramento as their proposed ballpark is built on the site of the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

However, shovels have yet to hit the ground to begin construction of the stadium that is supposed to be ready for Opening Day in 2028. Questions remain about the A's finding the funds to start constructing the $1.5 billion project.

Manfred affirmed Wednesday the A's planned move to Las Vegas remains as scheduled.

"I understand there seems to be some sense of doubt that persists out there, but [owner] John Fisher is completely committed to the process," Manfred said [via ]. "The building’s been demolished. The site’s available. They are on track for a 2028 opening. They’ve gone through the process of demonstrating that whether or not he takes local [investment] partners, he has the capacity to build the stadium. We’re full speed ahead."

A's executive Sandy Dean said in October that Fisher plans to invest $1 billion of his own money into construction of the stadium, which is expected to begin next spring.

The A's plan to present the proof that they have the necessary funds at an authority meeting on Dec. 5.

Tigers Analyst Carlos Peña Saw Spencer Torkelson's Home Run Coming, Celebrated Accordingly

The Detroit Tigers won yet again on Wednesday night, taking care of business easily against the Tampa Bay Rays to move even closer to completing one of the most remarkable runs in baseball history and securing a playoff spot. They are now 10 games over .500 and will make the playoffs barring a collapse this weekend against the lowly Chicago White Sox.

In short, the vibes are immaculate and have been boosted by Bally Sports Detroit's broadcast of the 29-11 stretch. Jason Benetti has been as advertised, one of the very best announcers working any sport. And a rotating crew of analysts including Dan Petry, Andy Dirks, Kirk Gibson and Carlos Peña have added to the experience.

Peña found himself in the middle of Benetti and Gibson last night and authored a great moment in the sixth inning. Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson was at the dish with with one on and one out against Tampa Bays reliever Manuel Rodríguez. Peña noticed the way Torkelson was being pitched and applied that baseball instinct to predict a big fly on the next pitch.

And when Torkelson launched a two-run home run to make Peña look like a genius, the player-turned-analyst reacted like Joe Rogan watching a shocking knockout ringside.

It's been a long, long time since anyone doing a Tigers broadcast has had reason to have this much fun. Game after game it becomes clear that everyone involved is taking full advantage of the surprising opportunity at every turn.
