Stop talking! Manchester United fans aren’t buying Nemanja Matic’s admission

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United fans have been busy on Twitter discussing Nemanja Matic’s comments following the embarrassing 4-0 loss to Everton, and the majority aren’t falling for what he had to say.

The Serbian international said: “I, the most experienced of all of us, did not play well today. We can’t blame the young players, I was the biggest problem for the team today.”

Who would win out of Man Utd’s treble winners and Man City today? Fans discuss in the video below…

Whilst his honesty is admirable, the United fans have heard enough from their players in recent weeks and seen little change as a result to be interested in handing out any sympathy.

The Old Trafford faithful aren’t interested in words anymore. They are demanding that their players do their talking out on the pitch, something that not one of them did against Everton during Sunday’s humiliation.

Matic, by his own admission, was amongst the worst performers, constantly switching off and allowing Gylfi Sigurdsson to roam free and do whatever he wanted in the No.10 role – it is no surprise that the Icelandic international scored a goal and got an assist.

Whilst no other player has had the courage to take responsibility for their abhorrent showing, the United fans on Twitter haven’t been accepting of Matic’s honesty, not one bit…

Rangers fans react to triple transfer update

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Rangers fans have been reacting to some transfer news, as Chris Jack of The Evening Times delivered a huge update on three summer targets.

According to The Evening Times, Steven Gerrard still wants to bring Greg Stewart, John Souttar and Jake Hastie to Ibrox this summer.

There have been conflicting reports about the moves particularly when it comes to Hastie, who one day is set to sign on the dotted line and the next day the deal is off if the never-ending rumour mill is to be believed.

According to Jack’s report though, all three are still on Gerrard’s wish-list for the summer.

The report claims Rangers are “closing on” on a move for Stewart, who will be available for free when his contract expires this summer.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…

It also states that a move for Hastie could “now be back on the cards”, while Hearts defender Souttar is still a target as well.

Loads of fans have been reacting to the news, and it seems to be a mixed response from the Ibrox faithful. Take a look at the best from Twitter down below…

Disgrace! West Ham fans rage at referee after defeat at Old Trafford

[ad_pod ]

Loads of West Ham fans have been running the rule over their defeat at Manchester United, and they’re all blaming one man for the result.

After a woeful performance against Everton and a fairly underwhelming visit to Chelsea, the Hammers owed their fans a good performance on Saturday evening.

And they arrived at Old Trafford intent on going for three points not just one, dominating periods of the match thanks to great performances from the likes of Declan Rice, Arthur Masuaku and Felipe Anderson.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…

Anderson thought he had put his side in front too, volleying home from inside the box before being flagged for offside. While it did appear to be the correct call at first, replays showed Diogo Dalot playing the Brazlian onside.

Paul Pogba then put the hosts in front from the spot after a rather dubious decision to award the penalty. Robert Snodgrass fouled Juan Mata, but the Spaniard didn’t even appear to be inside the box when the contact happened.

Pogba got his second of the day late in the second half with another spot kick, and needless to say Hammers fans are not happy with referee Graham Scott.

Celtic fans react as youngsters win Glasgow Cup

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Celtic fans have been reacting to Tuesday night’s dramatic action, as the Bhoys’ youth side overcame Rangers 3-2 in the Glasgow Cup final.

After Rangers beat Celtic 3-2 in the Youth Cup final last weekend, the Hoops returned the favour on Tuesday night by winning the Glasgow Cup.

Both fixtures were a fantastic advert for youth football in Scotland, with some truly wonderful goals scored.

Celtic’s youngsters raced out to an early lead as Jack Aitchison opened the scoring before a superb Mikey Johnston free kick made it 2-0.

The Gers didn’t go away without a fight though. Glenn Middleton responded with a brace, including an absolutely thunderous effort for the equaliser that he fired in off the underside of the cross bar from well outside the box.

Robbie Deas then won it with an equally impressive strike, finding the top corner with just minutes to spare.

Needless to say, fans are enjoying getting one over on their rivals even if it is just a youth game, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

Leeds United: Bielsa must consider signing Luca Connell in the summer

What a season it has been to be a young player at Leeds United.

The likes of Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton have all been given the opportunity to prove themselves by Marcelo Bielsa, whose trust in the club’s youth academy has been one of the main reasons for why the Whites have been so successful this year.

Whereas other managers in the Championship have opted to ignore their homegrown talent and instead field players with a wealth of experience, the Argentine’s willingness to utilise Leeds’ most exciting prospects could pay a dividend when the transfer window opens in July.

With Elland Road proving to be the perfect destination to start a career for young footballers, it will be of no surprise if the Whites manage to convince Luca Connell to make the switch from Bolton Wanderers this summer.

According to The Sun (as quoted by HITC), Leeds are reportedly eyeing up a move for the 18-year-old who is out of contract with the Trotters in the summer.

Although any move would have to include a compensatory fee due to Connell’s age, the fact that it could cost the Whites as little as £300,000 to secure his services could be a risk worth taking for Bielsa.

A versatile player who can play both as a midfielder and a defender, the Republic of Ireland under-19 international has already made 12 senior appearances for the Trotters and looks set for stardom if he makes the correct choice for his career.

By deciding to leave Bolton, who are preparing for a season in League One after being relegated from the second tier, and moving to Leeds, Connell could develop alongside the likes of Shackleton and Kalvin Phillips and eventually become a hero at Elland Road in the future.

What do you think Whites fans? Should Bielsa consider signing Connell in the Championship? How impressed have you been with the Argentine’s youth policy this season? Let us know below.

Aleksandar Mitrovic would be an amazing coup for Southampton

Southampton fans are more than happy to know the season is finally over, after only just surviving relegation once again this campaign. Thank the high heavens for that, right?

Indeed, had it not been for the arrival of manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, the Saints may have been facing a stint back in the Championship next season after an awful start to their campaign under Mark Hughes. In fact, that name alone is probably enough to send shivers down your spine.

There are a number of problems with their team but simply put, their recurring issue of not scoring enough goals is getting closer to catching them out.

As joint-sixth lowest scorers in the league, Ralph Hasenhuttl will understand better than anyone exactly where his team needs to improve. With a clinical, Premier League proven striker on-board such as Aleksandar Mitrovic, Southampton may no longer fear the relegation zone, instead dreaming about kicking-on further up the table.

Mitrovic, (who is valued at £22.5 million on Transfermarkt) scored 11 goals and provided three assists in a very poor Fulham side that was relegated from the Premier League this season. Still, his goal contribution shows that despite being the main striker in a very poor team, he has the talent to be a real star with more creativity around him at a team like Southampton.

Whilst Saints have to splash out £20 million because of their obligation to buy Danny Ings this summer, player sales in other departments could allow the purchase of Mitrovic to take place as well. Certainly, he’d fit the bill at St. Mary’s and was even linked (as per the Daily Express) with a £30m move to the south coast earlier this month.

A palpable goal threat, someone to lead the line and a player to excite the fans, the former Newcastle ace really does have it all. No longer would some of those home games seem like such a struggle if he was bouncing off the likes of Nathan Redmond and nodding in James Ward-Prowse’s set-pieces.

After all, the Serbian international is still only 24-years-old and is getting better by the season, making him a striker who Southampton would surely really want.

Do you agree that Southampton should try and sign Aleksandar Mitrovic… Join the discussion and let us know!

Exciting teenager to arrive at Villa Park? Aston Villa linked with Mainz ace Erkan Eyibil

[ad_pod ]

According to Turkish Football, Aston Villa have joined the hunt for Mainz 05 teenager Erkan Eyibil ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

What’s the word, then?

Eyibil is yet to make his first-team debut for Mainz, but the 17-year-old has been putting up some seriously impressive numbers for the German side’s youth teams.

Indeed, the attacker has managed 17 goals and five assists in 20 games for Mainz’s Under-19 side this term, which followed 27 goals and 27 assists in 47 matches at Under-17 level.

According to Turkish Football, Villa have joined the hunt for Eyibil, but the Championship side will face serious competition for his signature.

Indeed, the report has claimed that West Bromwich Albion are also in the picture, in addition to Newcastle United and West Ham United, who have been scouting the teenager.

A four-time Germany Under-18 international, it seems likely that Eyibil will be on the move this summer, but his destination is currently unclear.

Do Aston Villa have a chance of winning the race?

According to Turkish Football, Eyibil is ‘keen on playing in the Premier League’, suggesting that Villa will have to win promotion to the top flight to stand a chance.

That said, there is also reportedly interest from Besiktas and Fenerbahce.

It would take something special for Dean Smith’s side to land the teenager, but Villa are a huge football club and would be a very, very attractive proposition if they managed to come through the Championship playoffs victorious.

Thogden has ranked his top 5 sets of Championship away fans for Pl>ymaker FC. Did your club make the list? Find out in the video below…

Transfermarkt have listed Eyibil as an attacking midfielder – a number 10 – but he is also seemingly capable of operating on either the left or the right.

Villa will currently be focused on their upcoming Championship playoff semi-final with West Bromwich Albion, but the club are seemingly already putting summer plans in place.

This has to be a joke: West Ham fans do not want Joe Allen

[ad_pod ]

According to The Telegraph, West Ham United are considering a summer swoop for Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen.

And the London club’s supporters have been on social media reacting to the transfer report.

Allen has been in decent form for Stoke this season – scoring six times and registering three assists in 43 Championship appearances.

However, it would be fair to say that the West Ham fans are not interested in a summer deal for the Wales international, who turned out for Liverpool between 2012 and 2016.

At 29, Allen still has a good few years left in the game.

In this era of ‘big 6’ dominance, has finishing 7th become as good as winning a trophy? The Pl>ymaker FC squad have their say in the video below…

And he has proven in the past that he is more then capable of operating in the Premier League.

The West Ham fans are just not interested in a swoop for the midfielder, however, with many taking to social media to blast the transfer story.

Arsenal: Gunners have bottled top-four chances, again

‘You know as an Arsenal fan, it’s the hope that kills you.’

Those were the words of one Gunners supporter in a promo video for the 2018/19 Premier League season, and since that video, the message rings truer than ever for Arsenal fans.

After losing 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace on Easter Sunday, Arsenal had to travel to Wolves three days later and get a win that would quickly revive their chances for Champions League football, but as we all know, things went horribly wrong.

A classic Arsenal capitulation saw Unai Emery’s side go 3-0 down heading into half-time in a pinnacle Gunners bottle job of a performance. The players yet again looked disinterested and hopeless, the motivation to go out there and get anything was absent, and the worst part is fans couldn’t even blame Shkodran Mustafi for the defeat, as the error-prone defender sat on the bench for the entire 90 minutes.

Had Manchester United not keeled over and lost to Manchester City, the situation would be a lot worse for the Gunners, who still after two back-to-back defeats and some of their worst performances of the season are only a point off the top-four.

But it’s hard to imagine how Arsenal even make it to a Champions League qualification place in the league if they can’t return to the form that gave fans so much hope not too long ago.

Seven days ago Emery masterminded a famous 1-0 win against Napoli in Italy, a performance that many thought was the turning point in Arsenal’s season that will lead them to a guaranteed Champions League spot, a week later, and it’s a far different story.

There is a chance Arsenal can get a top-four finish, but as the saying goes, it’s the hope that kills you.

Arsenal fans, can the Gunners still finish in the top-four? Let us know!
