Chelsea have been making more waves during the summer transfer window, signing nine players, and it looks as though more will be arriving.
Enzo Maresca will be tasked with securing Champions League football this term. With the squad at his disposal, it would be a failure should he not achieve this.
Despite the plethora of talent joining the Stamford Bridge side, one area of the team which has yet to be bolstered is the centre-forward slot.
There are, of course, plenty of targets being lined up for a potential move to west London. One name which doesn’t seem to be going away is that of Victor Osimhen.
Chelsea continue to chase Victor Osimhen
According to Football Insider, Chelsea are continuing to monitor the Napoli striker between now and the end of the transfer window.
The striker has a release clause which currently stands at £93.5m, which could be problematic for the club, especially with regard to PSR and FFP regulations.
Napoli strikerVictor Osimhen.
The Nigeria international is also attracting interest from elsewhere, as he is keen on leaving the Serie A side this summer for pastures new.
Maresca could fund this signing by moving on Romelu Lukaku before the end of the month, who appears keen on reuniting with Antonio Conte, who is now in charge of Napoli.
However, could the manager perhaps make a move for another striker instead of Osimhen, as there is a player currently shining for Sporting CP who is attracting plenty of interest of late…?
Chelsea could make a move for Viktor Gyokeres
Swedish hitman Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with a move to England over the previous few months, with Chelsea and Arsenal showing plenty of interest in the player.
Any potential move would cost the Blues €100m (£86m), which is his release clause at the Portuguese club, meaning he wouldn’t be that much cheaper than Osimhen.
Viktor Gyokeres in action for Sporting
Could he be a better option than the Nigerian? Considering how effective he was in front of goal for Sporting last season after moving there from Coventry City, that would appear to be the case.
Viktor Gyokeres season in numbers
The 26-year-old swapped Coventry for Lisbon in the summer of 2023 following a campaign which saw him find the back of the net 22 times as the club came close to sealing a return to the Premier League after two decades away.
Although Sporting was perhaps a surprising choice, the move has allowed the player to showcase his talents in front of goal, as he scored an impressive 43 goals in 50 matches for the club as they claimed a second league title under Ruben Amorim.

Unsurprisingly, the Swede ranked first among his teammates when it came to goals and assists (39) in the top flight last term, while also ranking first for shots on target per game (1.8), second for scoring frequency (a goal every 101 minutes) and first for average Sofascore rating (7.92).
These statistics have clearly attracted interest from the Premier League, with Chelsea believing that he could be the player to return them to the top four in the league.
Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres
If the Blues get their way, Gyokeres could shine alongside another summer arrival, as they are closing in on a move to sign João Félix from Atlético Madrid.
Chelsea close to signing João Félix
Fabrizio Romano took to X to provide a fresh update concerning Maresca’s interest in the Portuguese gem, saying: "Understand Chelsea and Atlético are getting closer to final agreement for João Félix and Conor Gallagher!
"Positive round of talks today, João says yes to contract terms. Rumours on €60m fixed fee for Félix are not true.
"All parties working to get it done this weekend."
If all goes to plan, it looks as though the tenth summer signing could be arriving in the next couple of days. If Maresca gets his way, Gyokeres could yet be his eleventh.
Viktor Gyokeres could shine alongside João Félix
Felix enjoyed a moderately successful spell on loan at Barcelona last term, registering 16 goal contributions – ten goals and six assists – across 44 games in all competitions, but it wasn’t enough to lead the club to a major trophy.
When compared to his positional peers in La Liga last season, Felix ranked in the top 4% for touches in the opposition penalty area (6.08) and in the top 13% for carries into the final third per 90 (3.1).
He regularly bursts into dangerous areas, which could see him link up well with whoever is in front of him for Chelsea this season.
Felix also created six big chances for the Catalan side in the Spanish top flight last term, along with averaging 0.6 key passes per game. If he was deployed in his favoured No 10 role, perhaps these numbers would have been slightly higher.
Nevertheless, his talents could allow Gyokeres the chance to shine, especially with the sheer volume of opportunities Felix is capable of presenting to him.
When compared to his own peers playing at a similar level, Gyokeres ranked in the top 1% for successful take-ons, touches in the opposition box and progressive carries per 90, while even ranking in the top 3% for shot-creating actions and in the top 2% for assists per 90.
This suggests that the Swedish striker loves creating opportunities for others to score, which could prove vital should he join the club, allowing him to thrive in front of the Portuguese talent.
Much will depend on how many players Maresca can get off the books between now and the end of the month in order to fund moves for both Felix and Gyokeres, but the pair would surely be excellent in the Premier League.
If the duo can connect, Chelsea could be a team to watch throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

It has been a strange winter for Dom Sibley. While England’s white-ball players were in South Africa in December, Sibley was readying himself for the challenge of his first six Tests in Asia in surreal surroundings, batting in a marquee at the national performance centre in Loughborough. With snow on the ground outside, it made for an incongruous setting for preparation despite the use of dry, spinning pitches to hone techniques against the turning ball.England’s first Test against Sri Lanka in January was his first first-class match on the subcontinent, and it showed: he was out three times in as many innings to the left-arm spin of Lasith Embuldeniya, making all of six runs in the process. He looked uncertain throughout his brief stays, with his footwork hesitant due to his apparent failure to pick the length early. With Rory Burns due to return from paternity leave in India, there were legitimate doubts surrounding his place in the side. Those doubts were soon dispelled. He found a release shot, working the ball into the leg side as Dinesh Chandimal posted some generous fields in the final innings of the Sri Lanka series, and started the India leg of the tour by grinding out 87 off 286 balls as he batted through the first day of the first Chennai Test. Most reassuringly, he managed to negotiate the threat of India’s two frontline spinners, Shahbaz Nadeem and R Ashwin, surviving 79 and 78 balls against them respectively. Picking length no longer seemed to be such an issue for him, as he committed to getting fully forward or back. But since then, his struggles have resurfaced. Sibley has made only 42 runs across his last five innings, falling twice each to Ashwin and Axar Patel and once to Ishant Sharma, and while there are no serious questions being asked around his place, he goes into the fourth and final Test on Thursday under pressure once more.Reassuringly for Sibley, help is close at hand. Jonathan Trott, his former Warwickshire team-mate, was the instigator of his run-scoring glut at the end of the 2018 season after encouraging him to open up his stance, and working as a batting consultant with the England squad in India. Trott himself struggled in his first few Tests in India, making just 17 runs across the first two Tests of England’s 2012-13 tour, but found a method to succeed in the final two, compiling 87 in Kolkata and a rearguard 143 in Nagpur.Related
Dom Sibley vows to be 'a bit more proactive' after spin slowdowns
“He finished the Sri Lanka tour with a not out and a pretty good score, and started this series well in the first Test and hasn’t been able to build on that,” Trott said on Saturday. “I have full faith in his ability and the way he works at his game. Hopefully, these three Tests in India and the two in Sri Lanka will stand him in good stead for this fourth Test and he finishes the series really well.”To come on a first Test tour of India is always tricky. I certainly found it tricky my first time and a lot of players do, just like some players find it tricky coming to England for their first tour, but I’ve every confidence in him doing well in the next Test.”He’s got his options, it’s about executing them. His clarity is very good in that regard. He was unlucky when he went to sweep and the ball hit the back of his bat – he’s had a few things go against him. In the first Test, he missed a full toss and was out just before the close on day one. If he’d gone on there and got a nice big hundred … you need things to go your way sometimes. Hopefully, they do go his way in the next Test.”Jonathan Trott is England’s batting consultant in India•Getty Images
The challenge for Sibley has been one that he identified as an area for improvement a long time ago: starting his innings against spin in difficult conditions. In England’s home summer, he worked with assistant coach Graham Thorpe on trying to be more proactive against spinners, but he looked frenetic in the second innings in Ahmedabad; finding a tempo that works on tough pitches has not proved a straightforward task.”Your top-order guys growing up in England you face a lot of seam, so starting against spin is key, and getting your head around that,” Trott said. “We’ve seen India open the bowling with two spinners. Starting against spin is tricky, certainly with a new ball that’s skidding on and some of them turning, and getting in is key and getting used to the rhythm of it.”That’s the tricky bit, opening against spin and the ball is hard. Some skid on and don’t turn, and sometimes they do bounce and turn and go quite quickly because of the hardness. When that shine wears off and it grips the surface, it does it slower and you can adjust.”Sibley’s greatest strength to date has been his ability to adjust to the challenges that have presented themselves. He looks set to be one of only three players to appear in all six of their Tests on this Asian tour along with Joe Root and Jack Leach, and is clearly highly-regarded by the team; if he can prove his adaptability once more then it will bode well for a long England career.
The entourage of a Real Madrid player are urging to make a move away from the Bernabeu this summer, and he apparently has an offer to join Arsenal.
Edu seeking multiple signings for Arsenal with exits expected
Sporting director Edu Gaspar and manager Mikel Arteta are seeking upgrades in a variety of different areas over the coming weeks, with Arsenal also expected to facilitate exits for a few more key squad members after Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.

Tavares joined Lazio on a season-long loan which will become permanent for around £7.5 million, while Lokonga linked up with Sevilla on a temporary deal after spending last season at Luton Town.
The likes of Thomas Partey, Aaron Ramsdale and other fringe members of Arteta's squad are expected to follow the duo out. Partey, who made just 14 Premier League appearances under Arteta last season, has seen his role in the starting eleven greatly diminish in these last 12 months.
The 31-year-old's deal expires in under 11 months as well, with Partey attracting attention from Saudi Arabian and Turkish clubs as his future appears further and further away from Arsenal.
There is also the matter of goalkeeper Ramsdale, who was forced to watch as David Raya took his number one spot last season. Raya, who is now a permanent Arsenal player after sealing a £27 million switch to the Emirates, looks set to be Arteta's first choice for the foreseeable future.

Ramsdale may well be in danger of losing his England place if he carries on from the substitute's bench, prompting reports that the 25-year-old could be set to make a move away from north London in the coming weeks.
Reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal will "100%" sign a new back-up goalkeeper with Ramsdale's future in doubt, while another respected Arsenal source in Charles Watts believes that the former Bournemouth keeper is destined to depart.
"It’s a matter of when Ramsdale leaves, not if," said Watts to CaughtOffside in May.
“The key thing for Arsenal is getting value for money. I saw an initial fee of £15 million mentioned in reports last week and that is quite frankly ridiculous. Arsenal signed Ramsdale for nearly £30m two years ago and he has developed into a far better 'keeper since then."
Real Madrid shot-stopper Andriy Lunin has been tipped to potentially succeed Ramsdale between the sticks, as the Ukranian may well leave Carlo Ancelotti's side with his contract running out next year.
Lunin urged to leave Real Madrid as Arsenal make offer
Spanish news outlet AS have an update on the shot-stopper's future, and they claim Lunin has an offer to join Arsenal from Real Madrid this summer.
Real Madrid goalkeeperAndriy Lunin.
They add that those around Lunin are urging him to consider his future and leave the Bernabeu in pursuit of a fresh challenge, with the 25-year-old's entourage holding a strong belief that an exit is what's best for the player.
Real want to extend his stay beyond 2025, and Lunin has the offer of a new contract. However, the keeper is said to be hesitating and undecided over his future as things stand – which could well benefit Arsenal.
Arsenal could outbid a major European club in the race for a highly-rated £42 million defender, who may well replace the potentially exit-bound Jakub Kiwior.
Edu looking at signing new centre-back for Arteta
According to various reports in the last few weeks, sporting director Edu and manager Mikel Arteta have been tipped to bring in a new central defensive option ahead of a likely Premier League title challenge with Man City next season.
24-year-old now reaches agreement to leave Arsenal for La Liga giants

Arteta is looking to make it third-time-lucky in his pursuit of the title, having lost out to City in each of their two previous challenges since 2022. The Gunners pushed Pep Guardiola's side to the final day, accumulating 89 points and scoring 91 goals, but their rivals have set an incredibly high standard to beat in recent years.
To take the squad that bit further, Edu has been targeting a new striker for Arsenal, as well as a potential new midfielder to replace the exit-bound Thomas Partey. Arsenal are believed to hold an interest in Amadou Onana, among others, with Partey attracting serious interest from the Middle East and Turkey.
However, it has also been reported that Arteta wishes to acquire an alternative to star central defensive duo Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba. Arsenal conceded the fewest Premier League goals of any top-flight side last season, with Gabriel and Saliba being a factor in this.

You could make a case that there are few options to come in if either of the pair were to be absent, though, which has led to interest in a variety of central defensive options. Arsenal have been considering a bid for Marc Guehi, with the Crystal Palace ace currently impressing for England at Euro 2024.
Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest star Murillo and Barcelona star Jules Kounde are other reported targets for Edu. A highly rated defender in Serie A who has also turned heads with some excellent displays for Italy at the Euros is Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori.
The 22-year-old was even hailed by World Cup winner Gianluca Zambrotta for his "extraordinary" performance against Albania in their opening group game.
“He played an extraordinary game, like the whole team in the first 60 minutes,” said Zambrotta.
"He played with personality, without fear, perhaps the only flaw was on the long ball where we took a risk with Donnarumma’s exit. But he showed some beautiful things.”
His performances on the biggest stage will only increase his price tag, which is already rumoured to be somewhere around the £42 million mark.
Arsenal could outbid Juventus to replace Kiwior with Calafiori
According to Tutto Juve, the Gunners present a very real danger to Juventus in the race to sign Calafiori this summer.
It is believed Arsenal see Calafiori as an ideal option to replace Kiwior, who Tutto Juve states could well leave. It is also thought that they can offer more money than Juventus and potentially outbid the Old Lady, who are counting on Calafiori's preference to remain in Italy.
Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori
The centre-back was a star under Thiago Motta at Bologna last term, with the tactician now looking to prise him away to Juventus after choosing to replace Massimiliano Allegri.
Calafiori made 30 Serie A appearances for Bologna over 2023/24, managing two goals and five assists in that time.
Chelsea's transfer plans are beginning to accelerate ahead of the summer window opening on Friday, and it is believed they're pushing to bring in another player amid their attempts to land Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.

Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are wasting no time at all in identifying fresh faces for new manager Enzo Maresca, with Chelsea's talks for Duran thought to be advancing in pretty quick fashion.
The Colombia international would come in to bolster Maresca's striking options, but it is a potential move which has been met with some criticism. Still young, Duran managed just eight goals across 37 appearances in all competitions under Unai Emery, and there is a real danger that Chelsea could be about to add another unproven yet raw talent to their ranks.

That being said, there have been reports that another forward could join Chelsea as well as Duran. Indeed, that person may well be Crystal Palace star Michael Olise as one candidate. Todd Boehly is apparently ready to trigger Olise's release clause, with there being suggestions that personal terms have already been agreed as well (GiveMeSport).
A new winger arriving at Stamford Bridge over the coming weeks appears to be a distinct possibility, as the likes of Raheem Sterling are linked with exits. If the aforementioned does depart Cobham, Maresca will need a replacement.

Jeremy Doku enjoyed a scintillating debut campaign at Man City last season, and it appears another starlet from Rennes could follow in the Belgian's footsteps to England, as clubs take a serious interest in Desire Doue.
The 19-year-old has been called a similar player to Bernardo Silva by FBRef, with Rennes set to demand around £35 million to do business over the exciting teenager.
Chelsea pushing to sign Desire Doue
According to Ligue 1 journalist Alexis Bernard, Chelsea are pushing to sign Doue as the player asks his club to study offers for him. They're actively pursuing the teenager, but are not alone, as Bayern Munich could also make a move.
The Frenchman bagged four goals and four assists for Rennes last season, and is fast gaining a reputation as one of his country's most promising talents.
"He's a player who aspires to go to the biggest clubs," said teammate Baptiste Santamaria. "He's one of a kind.
"He likes to hit the ball but he's solid on his feet. Desire's technical, percussive and physical qualities are quite incredible. When he becomes more consistent, he'll be unplayable. For his age, he's the most gifted youngster I've seen in my career."
Chelsea have a new priority transfer target on their agenda this summer, as chairman Todd Boehly attempts to provide freshly-appointed head coach Enzo Maresca with the necessary upgrades to bolster his squad.
Chelsea target new attackers after Maresca talks in Marbella

Villa wanted to include players in any deal for Duran to join the west Londoners, which they apparently attempted but to avail (Nizaar Kinsella). Meanwhile, despite reports that Chelsea agreed personal terms with Olise, the 22-year-old winger opted instead for a move to Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich.
"Michael Olise chose to join Bayern Munich because of the pull of Champions League football and the prospect of working with Vincent Kompany," wrote journalist Sam Dean in The Telegraph (via Bayern & Germany).
"Manchester United and Chelsea also had strong interest in Olise but the 22-year-old’s mind was made up after early conversations with Kompany and the club’s executives Olise’s decision was not a financial one, with his rapport with Kompany and Bayern’s history of success proving to be key reasons for his imminent switch to the Bundesliga.

"The German club feel confident that they have demonstrated to Olise why Bayern will be the best place for his career. Kompany is understood to have reached an understanding with Olise over his vision for the team and the playing style he wants to impose at Bayern."
It's back to the drawing board for co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley following Olise's snub, despite weeks of reported negotiations, and they very much remain on the hunt for new forward options.
Chelsea want to sign a prolific new striker after talks with Maresca in Marbella earlier this month and will look to bring in an Olise alternative out wide. Barcelona striker Marc Guiu has been approached by Chelsea ahead of a potential move, with the young Spaniard's deal including a £5 million release clause.
Chelsea also hold an interest in Lille star Jonathan David as well, and reports from Spain now claim they have their eyes on Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman instead of Olise.
Chelsea now prepared to bid for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman
Indeed, one media source states that Chelsea are prepared to bid for Lookman after making him a priority target. The former Everton starlet was a hero for Atalanta in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, with Gian Piero Gasperini's side unceremoniously ending Xabi Alonso's record-breaking unbeaten streak.
The Nigerian racked up 11 goals and seven assists in 31 Serie A appearances last season as well, and it is believed that Atalanta have placed a valuation of around £50 million on his head as a result.
Chelsea are set to make an offer for one £80 million star in the next few days, with Enzo Maresca's side facing competition from elite European clubs Atletico Madrid and Paris-Saint Germain in a potentially high-profile transfer tussle.
Chelsea set sights on new attacking signings for Maresca
After confirming the arrival of their new head coach earlier this week, Stamford Bridge chiefs have now turned their attention to the summer window, as they look to usher in the Maresca era with some squad upgrades.

The likes of Fabrizio Romano have backed Chelsea to have a busy next few months in terms of incomings and outgoings at the club, with the Blues already sealing their first deal of the summer in recent days.
Centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo arrives at Chelsea from Fulham on a free transfer after completing his medical on Tuesday, who comes in to gift Maresca a capable extra body in defence and another homegrown player to bolster the club's quota.
"It will continue to be a busy summer at Chelsea," said Romano on Chelsea's transfer plans after bringing in Maresca to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

"It won’t be completely crazy but they will try to make smart things happen, including a new goalkeeper and I expect them to try for at least one new centre-back, but it could be two. I also expect Chelsea to be busy with the striker position, and I mentioned many times Benjamin Sesko, who is highly rated at Chelsea but also by others like Arsenal and Manchester United.”
In terms of attacking signings, alongside a new centre-forward, it is believed that Chelsea are eyeing up a new winger as well. Benjamin Sesko and Michael Olise are keen on joining Chelsea, according to some reports, and discussions have been held with their agents.
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko
It is still very early days in regard to both moves, though, even if some outlets suggest Chelsea are ready to trigger Olise's release clause in the coming weeks. The west Londoners have attacking alternatives, and one of them is Man City forward Julian Alvarez.
The Argentine World Cup winner, who reportedly commands a price tag of around £80 million, is now subject to interest from Maresca and co. Chelsea's new head coach worked with Alvarez during their time together at Eastlands, with Maresca serving as Pep Guardiola's assistant before moving to Leicester last summer.
Chelsea set for imminent offer to sign Julian Alvarez
As per reliable South American journalist Gaston Edul, speaking to TyC Sports, Chelsea are set to make an offer for Alvarez in the next few days. However, both Atletico and PSG are also contending for the 24-year-old.
"Chelsea will make a proposal for Julian Alvarez in the next few days," said Edul, as translated by Chelsea News.
"Atletico Madrid has also asked for information from agents. PSG are interested in making an offer too.. Alvarez just wants to play more, but City wants to keep him ideally and it won’t be easy to negotiate."
Alvarez has been called an "amazing talent" by Haaland, and scored 19 goals in all competitions last season for the eventual Premier League champions.

The move mirrors that already taken by West Indies in asking to use the design by Alisha Hosannah, partner of Premier League footballer Troy Deeney. The decision was taken by the ECB, fully supported by the England players led by Joe Root, the Test captain, and Ben Stokes, who will stand in for him during the first Test at the Ageas Bowl, starting July 8.”It is important to show solidarity to the black community and to raise much needed awareness around the topics of equality and justice,” said Root. “The England players and management are unified in this approach and will use the platform of international cricket to fully support the objective of eradicating racial prejudice wherever it exists.”The majority of us do not understand what individuals from BAME background have to go through when people make judgments because of the colour of their skin. As a group, we are learning about this and educating ourselves.”There has to be equal opportunity and equal rights for all. We hope by making this stance we can play our part in standing shoulder-to-shoulder as a team and we hope that by continuing to raise awareness we can move towards a society in which the colour of your skin and your background has no bearing on your opportunities.”It is very simple, we believe there is no room for racism or any form of discrimination, anywhere.”Tom Harrison, the ECB chief executive, added: “The England and Wales Cricket Board fully support the message that Black Lives Matter, It has become a message of solidarity and a drive for progress and societal change. There can be no place for racism in society or our sport, and we must do more to tackle it.ALSO READ: West Indies to wear Black Lives Matter logo during Tests”Our support of that message is not an endorsement, tacit or otherwise, of any political organisation, nor the backing of any group that calls for violence or condones illegal activity. We are aware of certain aspects of the movement that promote their own political views, and their actions are not supported in any way by the ECB and our players.”This moment is about unity. We are proud that our players will stand alongside those from the West Indies and wear a logo that embodies that philosophy. It is fitting that they do so in solidarity with athletes from the football world who wore it first. Our thanks go to Troy Deeney and his partner Alisha Hosannah, creator of the logo, who generously agreed to share it with us.”We have a responsibility to ensure that cricket is truly a game for everyone. We will shortly set out further steps that build on the work we have already done to make cricket more inclusive and diverse in order to address some of the barriers which still exist for some communities.”Deeney added: “Alisha and I are immensely proud to be asked and take part in a monumental moment in world sport, this amazing decision by the England and West Indies cricket teams to show their support for Black Lives Matter.”When I got the call, I didn’t hesitate to respond, because I know as sportspersons in the spotlight, how important our efforts are to bring about change and the role we play in moving towards change in our society. Watching cricket with my grandad shaped my childhood, so it’s great to be able to help England and West Indies Cricket to show their support in such a meaningful way.”
