It was a vital match in the relegation race, with both teams needing every point they can get at this point in the season. It was Forest, though, that seized the advantage initially thanks to a goal from Chris Wood.

Forest's big moment came in the 34th minute. Played in by a cross from Morgan Gibbs-White, Wood was just able to get the outside of his boot to the ball, flicking it back across goal to give Forest a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Of the two teams, it was Forest that were closer to scoring that second goal of the game for most of the contest, with Luton surviving thanks to two goal-line clearances. Those clearances proved vital, too, as Luton scored a late equalizer to seal a share of the points.

The goal came from a corner kick in the 89th minute, and it helped Luton steal a result at home. Luke Berry was the goalscorer as Forest were unable to block his shot on goal as the two sides finished level at 1-1.

With the draw, Forest picked up a point that could have, and probably should have been three to help them through this relegation race. That one point puts them on 25 for the season, leaving them just three ahead of Luton, who occupy that last relegation spot with nine games remaining. Forest also have a potential Financial Fair Play sanction hanging over their head, with Monday's verdict having the potential to completely alter the course of the club's campaign.

Reyna's spell at Nottingham Forest continues to feel like a disaster, as the American once again failed to get the minutes needed to make this loan worthwhile. Reyna, to be fair, was nursing a knock heading into this game but, after returning to training in the build-up, the hope was that he'd get some sort of chance to contribute.

He's played less than one full half of soccer since joining the club in the winter transfer window. Reyna is getting less playing time than he was even getting at Dortmund, with the lack of minutes in Germany being the reason this loan was sanctioned to begin with. Reyna's inability to crack not just the Forest XI, but the Forest substitutes is a real concern heading into USMNT camp.

Reyna, of course, was called into that camp, with head coach Gregg Berhalter admitting he was concerned by Reyna's lack of gametime. Berhalter, though, says he has full belief in Reyna, who did have a strong 2023 with the national team despite his club issues.

Joining Reyna on the bench, of course, was Matt Turner, who remains Forest's backup goalkeeper for the time being.

As Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler recently stated, those at United appear to have high hopes for their "new wing wizard", with there having been a sense of delight that the Liverpool-born forward did agree to sign a first professional contract with the club last month.

That had come despite rival interest in the fleet-footed whiz from other top-flight clubs – as per the Manchester Evening News – with the Red Devils likely keen to avoid a repeat of the impending departure of Harrison Parker to Manchester City.

With Lacey having now signed on the dotted line, both the player – and United – can look forward to the impact he can make at the club in the years to come.

Amid the dearth of options in Ten Hag's ranks on the right wing – with the likes of Amad, Antony and Jadon Sancho all unavailable for various reasons – would it be too ridiculous to suggest that a chance could come for Lacey before too long?

While still only 16, the England youth international is already a firm fixture in the U18 set-up, having scored three goals and provided two assists in just 15 games at that age group in all competitions to date.

A player who can operate on the flanks or in a number ten berth, the silky gem could look to the impact that Lamine Yamal is making at Barcelona as inspiration, with the 16-year-old already featuring regularly at senior level for both club and country.

The 5 foot 11 Spaniard has already contributed three assists from seven La Liga appearances so far this season, having made a space for himself in a star-studded squad that includes the likes of Raphinha, Ferran Torres, Joao Felix and Robert Lewandowski.

With the Catalan giants reaping the rewards of that show of faith, perhaps United could follow suit with young Lacey, with Ten Hag believed to have already held talks with the winger – among others – regarding the potential demands of playing first-team football for the club.

Of course, history would dictate that with the player still only 16, he will not be rushed into the senior ranks if he is not yet ready, with the likes of David Beckham, for instance, going out on loan before eventually breaking into the team under Sir Alex Ferguson.

As Daily Express reporter Alex Turk has noted though, "Carrington has another very, very special player within its gates" with regard to Lacey, while according to journalist Thomas Alencar, he even appears to be the reincarnation of club legend, Ryan Giggs.

Amid the wealth of plaudits that are flooding his way, it is clear to see that United have a truly exciting talent on their hands – and one who could explode if given the chance to impress in the near future.

Everton turned down a deadline day offer for Demarai Gray, as a new report reveals the latest twist in the bizarre situation unfolding around the Blues winger.

Back in 2021, Gray arrived on Merseyside from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported €2m (£1.7m), but with his contract expiring in less than a year, he was heavily linked with an exit during the recent transfer window to ensure that he doesn’t leave as a free agent next summer.

Chelsea's transfer plans are taking further shape as broadcast giant ESPN share an update on their pursuit of Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda.

Who will Chelsea sign?

Mauricio Pochettino's side have already spent north of £260 million so far this transfer window, having sealed deals for Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Robert Sanchez, Angelo and young Brazilian ace Deivid Washington.

The signings of both Lavia and Caicedo come as huge recent moves in particular, with Chelsea beating league rivals Liverpool to the two star midfielders.

Caicedo had been chased up for the majority of this transfer window but Liverpool's presence in the auction eventually forced the west Londoners to cough up a British-record £115 million transfer fee.

Speaking after the signing of Brighton's former star, Chelsea co-directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley explained exactly why he is the perfect fit for Pochettino.

"Moises has proved himself as a standout player in European football over the past 18 months, and we are thrilled to add him to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad," said Stewart and Winstanley.

"Moises possesses a rare midfield skill set and is a player we've been targeting for some time. We believe he will make a significant impact at Stamford Bridge this season – and in the years ahead."

There are other targets on the agenda at Chelsea, despite their already-lavish spending, as it is believed they have set their sights on Lyon starlet Bradley Barcola as an alternative to Crystal Palace ace Michael Olise.

Former Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has also been linked, coming after Chelsea let go of both Kepa Arrizabalaga, who joined Real Madrid on loan, and Edouard Mendy.

Now, according to a report by broadcast giant ESPN, it appears the Blues have another player on their agenda as news emerges on Fresneda of Valladolid.

The 18-year-old is a target for La Liga champions Barcelona, but as they dither over whether to formalise a move, Chelsea have entered the race to sign him.

Fresneda himself is waiting to see how Barca proceed before making a final decision on his future, but Chelsea are waiting in the wings to offer him an alternative option.

Chelsea have been admirers for some time, apparently, but the most interesting line from this piece is that the Boues would not have any issue paying his price tag of around €8-€10 million (£6.8m-£8.5m).

The Red Devils and Erik ten Hag have been busy ahead of the 2023/24 season where Champions League football will once again be on the Old Trafford billing.

Reinforcements have therefore been required, and the club have already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea and Andre Onana from Inter Milan. Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund will be the next to arrive at Carrington after Man United and Atalanta agreed on a €70m fee, with the player also undergoing a medical and completing media duties.

Hojlund will be the club’s biggest signing of the summer and will take United’s spending to around the £150m mark, however, it doesn’t look as if the Red Devils plan on stopping there.

Attention could turn to moving players on, with 13 thought to be up for sale at the beginning of the window, but another new midfielder appears to be of interest.

Reports have suggested that Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is a real target and is close to moving to Manchester in a deal worth £26m. A new centre-back could also arrive before the September 1 deadline, with Todibo still an option.

Writing in his Caught Offside column in the last 48 hours, transfer expert Romano said that the Red Devils are still monitoring Todibo ahead of a possible transfer but added that the focus will soon be on a new midfielder.

“I mentioned in April that Man United sent their scouts multiple times to follow both Todibo and Disasi – they’re very attentive to French market.

“Todibo is still being monitored, and we’ll have to wait and see how Man United will act. The priority will be a midfielder for now, so there’s nothing imminent on Todibo.”

Who is Jean-Clair Todibo?

Todibo is an out-and-out centre-back who appears to be at the top of his game with a career-high €30m Transfermarkt valuation. The 23-year-old progressed through the academy at Toulouse before making the move to Barcelona back in 2019.

However, things didn’t exactly work out at the Nou Camp for the player, who made just five appearances for the Catalan giants, turning out on loan with FC Schalke, Benfica and Nice.

The Frenchman made a move to Nice permanent back in 2021 and has gone on to player over 100 times for the French side – 70 of which have come in the past two Ligue 1 campaigns.

Praised for being as “solid as a rock” for Nice by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, Todibo was also once hailed by German legend Lothar Matthaus, who said:

“Todibo is the best centre back I’ve seen in a long time.

“At 20 he is incredibly calm, he always finds interesting solutions.”

Therefore, a move to Manchester could be a wise one by Ten Hag and the Old Trafford board. Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly could well leave this month, which would leave the club with just Victor Lindelof as a senior back-up to first-choice pair Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

Todibo could potentially look to rival Varane and Martinez and eventually become a starter over the coming years, and by the looks of things, a move could materialise later in the window.

Newcastle United are now interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Jesper Lindstrom, but they will have to battle the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal for his signature, according to recent reports from Denmark.

There have been suggestions that Newcastle have made contact with Galatasaray over a move for Nicolo Zaniolo, as a result of the "excellent impact" he made for the Turkish club after arriving in January, but they have no interest in selling him this summer.

Eddie Howe's side have "decided" to make a bid of around €24m (£21m) for the 19-year-old, having closely monitored him for some time now, and the Brazilian club will have to be prepared for an "astronomical proposal" this summer.

There are no other clubs named as potential suitors for Hugo, but Newcastle are set to face a lot of competition in their pursuit of Lindstrom, with Ekstra Bladet, via Sport Witness, recently detailing that a whole host of clubs are vying for the Frankfurt star's signature.

Alongside the Magpies, Tottenham Hotspur, RB Leipzig, Inter Milan and Napoli are all interested in the 23-year-old, who could be on the move this summer, with his current club said to be planning for a sale.

Frankfurt would find it hard to say no to a good offer, and if an auction breaks out, the fee could rise as high as €55m (£47m), although he is valued at around €35m – €40m (£30m – £34m). At the moment, Arsenal, Liverpool and Juventus are the clubs that have taken the most concrete steps, having "already been in contact" with the Bundesliga club to discuss a deal.

How good is Jesper Lindstrom?

Football writer Seb Stafford-Bloor has praised the attacking midfielder on a number of occasions, describing him as "fun to watch", before recently adding:

"Jesper Lindstrom is a fascinating player. Really talented and unusual, but also hard to define."

Having arrived in the Bundesliga from Brondby ahead of the 2021-22 campaign, it was always going to take the Dane some time to adapt, but teammate Kevin Trapp believes he has already come on leaps and bounds since his arrival:

"Jesper is very young and came from a different league. The Bundesliga is a tougher league than the Danish league, you have to get used to it. It’s normal, and everyone in the club and the team knows that. Jesper has already made significant steps forward… you can see that he's an outstanding footballer and has very good technique."

Of course, a move to the Premier League would be another step up for the maestro, but he has proven he may be up to the task, having scored seven league goals last season, the third-highest amount in the squad. If Newcastle are able to sign Lindstrom for a fee close to his valuation of around £30m, he could be a quality addition, but it may be difficult to win the race for his signature, given the level of interest.
