The Portuguese superstar has played with and against some of the finest talent of the last two decades. He has cemented a standing towards the top of all-time great lists with his exploits in a long-running battle with eternal rival Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo is still going strong at 39 years of age, with his career taking him from Sporting to Al-Nassr via Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. He has earned 213 caps for Portugal – helping them to Euro 2016 and Nations League glory – and has vowed to carry on for some time yet.

WHAT RONALDO SAID

Rio Ferdinand has now charged Ronaldo, on his , with the task of picking between some of his most distinguished former team-mates and French superstar Mbappe – who has followed in his footsteps as a ‘Galactico’ at Santiago Bernabeu and taken on the No.9 jersey that CR7 once filled in Spain.

Ronaldo sided with legendary United midfielder Paul Scholes in duels with Gary Neville, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Carlos Tevez. His fellow legendary No.7 David Beckham then took bragging rights against Angel Di Maria, before losing to Ryan Giggs. The Welsh winger saw off competition from Ramos, Pepe, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, Marcelo, Xabi Alonso and Toni Kroos.

Chelsea could rue selling a star who’s now worth as much as Palmer

Since Todd Boehly completed his purchase of Chelsea for £4.25b in May 2022, they have spent an outrageous sum of money on bringing in new players to the club. In total, they have spent £1.1bn on transfers into Stamford Bridge.

This has included high-profile acquisitions such as Raheem Sterling on a five-year contract who cost £50m from Premier League rivals Manchester City, and Frenchman Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, who cost £52m.

The Blues have also signed some lesser-known talents, who they hope to nurture over the years and eventually become key players at first-team level. This includes Lesley Ugochukwu, who joined from Rennes for £23.2m and signed a seven-year contract.

One of the best players in the Premier League, Cole Palmer, also signed for Chelsea this summer, for £40m from City. The signing was a bit of a gamble, but that has certainly paid off, with the 21-year-old scoring 20 goals and registering nine assists in 30 league games.

Of course, all these incoming meant Chelsea needed to make room in their squad over the last two seasons. The likes of Mason Mount left the club last summer, to sign for Manchester United for £55m. However, there was one other major sale in the 2023 summer window, which the Blues could well regret signing off on.

Kai Havertz’s season in numbers

The player in question here is Kai Havertz, who joined Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal last summer for a fee of £65m. It took some time for Havertz to find his feet since moving to the Emirates Stadium, but has grown into his role at the club and turned into one of the Gunners’ best players this season.

Despite a slow start to life as an Arsenal player, Havertz has 12 goals and six assists in 35 Premier League appearances, as well as scoring once in the Champions League.

Havertz started off playing in the centre of midfield, fulfilling the role left vacant by Granit Xhaka, who left the club in the summer. However, he has more recently found a place leading the line for Arsenal, and has been very successful in recent weeks.

In fact, the Germany international is Arsenal’s second-most productive player in terms of goal output in the Premier League so far this season. His 18 goal involvements are only bettered by Bukayo Saka, with the Gunners’ number seven having 25 in total, as per Sofascore.

Chelsea fans may well but frustrated at Havertz’s form in his first season Arsenal being so impressive. He is already only 19 goals behind his Chelsea tally of 32 in 91 fewer games than what he played at the Bridge.

Kai Havertz's transfer value at Arsenal in 2024

The £65m that Arsenal paid Chelsea to bring Havertz to the Emirates Stadium last summer has, so far, proved a successful investment. Aside from his superb performances in recent weeks, the 24-year-old’s market value has greatly risen since the transfer.

The Germany international, who has 15 goals in 44 games for his country so far, is now worth a whopping £86m as per CIES Football Observatory, and he is one of the most valuable players in Arsenal’s squad. Indeed, only Bukayo Saka, at £171m, and captain Martin Odegaard, at £128m, are valued higher than Havertz, with Declan Rice, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli equal to Havertz’s value.

Incredibly, not only is Havertz the joint-third most valuable player in the current Arsenal squad, but he is equally as valuable as Palmer. The Englishman is currently tied at the top of the Golden Boot chart with former teammate Erling Haaland and has certainly been Chelsea’s best player this season.

However, he is no more valuable than Havertz, and the former Chelsea man would actually be the joint-most valuable player in their current squad had he stayed, along with Palmer and Enzo Fernandez.

Havertz’s signing has certainly been a good purchase for the Gunners, with pundit Adrian Clarke describing his recent performances as “magic”, following a stellar 6-0 win away to Sheffield United in March.

Chelsea fans and Boehly may well wish that this was one deal that did not happen last summer; after all, they have been struggling in front of goal, Palmer aside. Perhaps Havertz could have been the man to help them find the back of the net more often this season.

Here is a detailed look at Portugal’s 10 most-capped players:

10

Rui Costa

94 caps

Also one of Portugal’s top 10 goalscorers of all time, attacking midfielder Rui Costa ended his international career with 94 caps.

He made his senior debut for Portugal in 1993 a few days after his 21st birthday and would go on to play until 2004. Unfortunately for Rui Costa, his last appearance for Portugal would come in the final of Euro 2004, suffering heartbreak against Greece.

9

Bruno Alves

96 caps

Centre-back Bruno Alves represented Portugal at the 2004 Olympic Games, but didn’t make his full international debut until 2007 at the age of 25.

Alves quickly made up for lost time, though, becoming a key member of Portugal’s defensive setup for the next decade. A European Championship winner, Alves called it quits in 2018, four appearances shy of triple figures.

8

Bernardo Silva

100 caps

Bernardo Silva has had a glittering international career for Portugal despite missing out on being a part of their triumphant Euro 2016 squad.

Entering triple figures for caps in March 2025, Silva won the inaugural Nations League in 2019, setting up the winning goal in the final.

A regular at tournaments since the 2018 World Cup, he is now one of eight Portugal players to reach 100 appearances.

7

Rui Patricio

108 caps

The highest-capped goalkeeper for Portugal, Rui Patricio made his debut for his country at the age of 22 in 2010 and was an ever-present figure over the next decade.

The former Wolves shot-stopper, who is still available for selection now, won 10 or more caps for Portugal in 2012, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2021. He is no longer first-choice, but will go down as a Portugal legend after helping them win Euro 2016.

6

Fernando Couto

110 caps

Regarded by many as one of Portugal’s greatest defenders, Fernando Couto’s international career lasted 15 years.

It began back in 1990 at the age of 21 after he helped Portugal win the FIFA World Youth Championship a year prior. He was part of the “Golden Generation” and became the first-ever Portugal player to win 100 caps.

5

Nani

112 caps

Former Manchester United winger Nani scored 24 goals and provided 24 assists in his 112 appearances for Portugal.

The first of his caps came in 2006, with his last in 2017, as Nani played in five major tournaments for his country. The last of those, Euro 2016, was certainly the most memorable for the winger, with Nani taking over the captaincy following an injury to Cristiano Ronaldo in the final.

4

Luis Figo

127 caps

Unfortunately, despite winning so much at club level, legendary winger Luis Figo never won a major tournament with Portugal.

The former captain of the “Golden Generation” made his debut for the national side in 1991 and announced his initial retirement in 2004. However, Figo reversed that call a year later, turning out in the 2006 World Cup before once again hanging up his boots.

3

Pepe

141 caps

Centre-back Pepe finally called time on his international career after Euro 2024 at the grand old age of 41.

On the international stage, Pepe, who could have represented Brazil, made his Portugal debut in 2007 at 24 and went on to become an important part of the national side.

He has turned out in nine major tournaments, becoming the oldest player to score in a World Cup knockout game back in 2022.

2

Joao Moutinho

146 caps

A name which may come as a surprise to some, Joao Moutinho sits second in the all-time appearance chart for Portugal, ending his career with 146 caps.

The former Wolves midfielder made his senior debut for Portugal at 18 and would go on to be a regular until 2022, turning out on 10 or more occasions in eight separate calendar years.

1

Cristiano Ronaldo

219 caps

A record that will arguably never be beaten, Cristiano Ronaldo is the only player to have made more than 200 appearances for a senior international side.

Ronaldo’s career for Portugal began in 2003 at the age of 18, and 21 years later, the iconic striker is still going strong. He’s scored a whopping 136 goals during that time, winning Euro 2016 and captaining his country for large parts of his international career.

Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd have agreement with 53 y/o who will be "important"

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Manchester United have an agreement with one target who could be “really important” going forward.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe making Man Utd changes

It has been an eventful 2024 so far at Old Trafford, with new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe making his mark in Manchester. Ratcliffe and INEOS are already looking at building the ‘Wembley of the North’ in Manchester, whereas former Manchester City CEO Omar Berrada has made the move to Old Trafford.

There could soon be more off-field arrivals, though, with Newcastle United’s Dan Ashworth and Southampton’s Jason Wilcox targets for the boardroom.

A manager to replace Erik ten Hag could also be on the horizon, with a plethora of candidates including Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, England boss Gareth Southgate, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou and Brentford’s Thomas Frank just some of the names mooted.

He will be available for free this summer.

ByJoe Nuttall Apr 16, 2024

In regards to transfers, Ratcliffe has hinted that the cash may not be splashed. Asked about moves for superstars Jude Bellingham or Kylian Mbappe, Ratcliffe said: “He’s a great footballer (Bellingham) but it’s not where our focus is. The solution isn’t spending a lot of money on a couple of great players.

"They’ve done that, if you look at the last 10 years. The first thing we need to do is get the right people in the right boxes, managing and organising the club. We must make sure we get recruitment right, such a vital part of running a football club is getting recruitment right, finding new players.”

On the idea of signing Mbappe, who is on course to join Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain over the summer, Ratcliffe added: “I’d rather find the next Mbappe, rather than spend a fortune to buy success. It’s not that clever to buy Mbappe, anybody could figure that one out.”

Someone who could be key in securing deals for the next Mbappe may well be Wilcox, who is being lined up as the new technical director at Old Trafford.

Jason Wilcox to Man Utd latest

Wilcox is yet to officially seal a move to Manchester from the south coast, and Romano has shared the latest following the news of John Murtough’s departure after almost 11 years at Old Trafford.

Romano, talking to GiveMeSport, said that Wilcox, who has an agreement with the Red Devils, “looks like he’ll be really important for United’s present and future” and isn’t speaking with any other club.

The 25-year-old academy product appeared in 37 matches across all competitions last season and clocked only 1,393 minutes on the pitch where he scored just six goals. Chelsea eyeing move for 46 y/o Premier League manager to replace Pochettino

Chelsea are thought to be eyeing a new Premier League manager to possibly replace Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge.

Latest on Mauricio Pochettino’s future at Chelsea

It has been a tough first season for the Argentine in London, losing in the EFL Cup final to Liverpool recently while also finding themselves in the bottom half of the league table.

Some Blues supporters turned on Pochettino and Todd Boehly during the 2-2 draw with Brentford last time out, with the manager saying after the game:

"I think the performances have been very good, I’m so happy with the performances. Yes, and if they want to listen, perfect. If not, what can I do? They'll keep booing. I'm giving my best to this team.

"But we cannot blame the fans. My message is: Okay, they need to show their frustration – through who? I prefer to me rather than to the team. I prefer that, I am strong. I am sure that in time we will change the perception.

"I don’t want the fans trying to blame the players. Players need to feel backed by the fans and, to be honest, I prefer that I get the blame and let the players be free on the pitch. I don’t care. I am strong, I am 52 now.

"The players deserve credit and support from our fans. If someone needs to get the blame, that is no problem. That is why I am the coach."

Recent reports have claimed that Pochettino’s job is safe until the end of the season, with Chelsea still looking to win the FA Cup. That doesn’t mean that potential targets aren't being assessed behind the scenes, with a new update now emerging.

Chelsea eyeing Eddie Howe move

According to GiveMeSport and journalist Ben Jacobs, the Blues will indeed look to assess their managerial situation in the summer.

Should a change materialise, Chelsea will look to move in a different direction, with Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe a likely target if he leaves St James’ Park. Howe has been under pressure at points during the current campaign, with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho mentioned as someone who could come in for the 46-year-old.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.

Hansi Flick and Julen Lopetegui are also mentioned as potential Pochettino replacements in a new development. Of course, Howe will travel to Stamford Bridge on Monday with his Newcastle side for a top-flight clash, so he could make a statement to the Blues board with a win over Pochettino.

During his career, Howe has worked wonders at both AFC Bournemouth and Newcastle, taking the Cherries up the divisions and the Magpies back into the Champions League last season.

This isn’t the first time Howe has been touted as a possible Chelsea boss, though, with speculation over him replacing Mourinho at Stamford Bridge back in 2015. He’s also been linked with the England job on a number of occasions, so if he does depart Newcastle, it could be a name to keep an eye on, making Monday’s fixture all the more intriguing.

> Confira a tabela do Brasileirão Série B

Jude Bellingham: Net worth, salary, age, girlfriend, parents, brother & more

We have a new superstar on the scene, and he goes by the name of Jude Bellingham. The Englishman has put his name among the world's best with his performances in Madrid, as well as becoming the centrepiece of Gareth Southgate's England side.

However, the youngster hasn't always been living it up at the top level of world football, with a whole story behind his boyhood journey growing up in Dudley.

So, we have decided to compile a fact file on everything about Jude Bellingham.

Jude Bellingham's age and height

Jude Bellingham was born on 29th June 2003, in Stourbridge, which is a market town in the borough of Dudley, situated in the West Midlands. This makes him 20 years of age.

The Bundesliga official website states that Jude Bellingham is 186 cm tall, which makes him 6 foot 1.

Jude Bellingham's net worth

Despite only being at the start of his career, Jude Bellingham is already well on his way to earning a fortune that many can only dream of.

It has been claimed by Celebrity Net Worth that the youngster is already worth around $50 million (£39 million).

His current deal at Real Madrid will total around £106 million over the initial six years he signed up to – and he's just under a year into this deal.

As well as this, he has previous earnings from Birmingham City and Borussia Dortmund, as well as potential investments, so he's well on his way.

Jude Bellingham's salary

Jude Bellingham is on a mammoth deal at Real Madrid after joining last summer.

The 20-year-old currently earns around €25m per year (£21.3m). He penned a six-year deal with the Spanish club, which will seen him earn a whopping £106 million in this period, as per Capology.

This works out to around €480,769 (£410,000) per week, which puts him among the top earners in world football.

Jude Bellingham stats

Despite being just 20 years of age, the midfielder has already amassed an outstanding stats record.

At the time of writing, Bellingham has made 233 appearances already in his career, appearing for Borussia Dortmund, Birmingham City and now Real Madrid in terms of domestic football, as well as for England on the international stage.

Since joining Madrid, the Englishman has stepped up massively as an advanced midfielder, with a record that any striker would be proud of, as the club's top scorer and provider for the 2023-2024 season.

Jude Bellingham's parents

Jude's mum and dad are called Denise and Mark.

Interestingly, the footballer's dad is a former police sergeant and served with the West Midlands police force. But, that isn't all he used to do, as he enjoyed a 25-year career in the semi-professional football scene, playing for teams such as Stourbridge.

He has now taken on the role of being his sons' agent, which no doubt pays him much more than the police force ever did.

Denise, on the other hand, has been the rock in Jude's life over the past five years of his football career. She travelled to Germany with him to help him settle in during his time at Dortmund, and even still makes his bed for him.

She lives out in Spain with Jude, while Mark remains in England predominantly as support for their other son, Jobe.

Jude Bellingham's girlfriend

Jude Bellingham's girlfriend was rumoured to be Chitty Asantewa. She's known for being a social media influencer and model, with 35,000 Instagram followers and over 100,000 TikTok followers.

Many speculated the pair had been dating, but the rumours were quickly quashed as she came out and stated that she's already in a relationship, stating this in an Instagram story:

“I can’t believe I’m having to address this after so long, but I would like to make clear that the rumours of me being in a relationship with Jude Bellingham are not true. I have never dated Jude. I am now in a happy relationship. I would appreciate it if these rumours come to an end. Thank you.

There have also been rumours swirling around involving Mary Fowler, who plays for Manchester City.

It has been claimed that Bellingham has been quick to like a number of her photos on Instagram, though she is reportedly dating NRL superstar Nathan Cleary, so a romance brewing here looks unlikely.

Jude Bellingham's brother

Jude isn't the only famous face in the family, as brother Jobe has been making headlines of his own.

The 18-year-old has been attracting plenty of attention due to his performances for Sunderland in the EFL Championship this season, having scored five goals and laid on one assist thus far.

The pair of them both made their debuts for the senior team when they were 16 years old and have a close relationship, with Jude even coming to cheer on his brother in the stands on a number of occasions this season.

Jude Bellingham transfer news

Jude Bellingham was linked with a whole host of clubs prior to his move to Real Madrid, with Liverpool being one of the prominent names.

It was confirmed by Jurgen Klopp in January that Bellingham was his number-one target for the Reds before he moved to Madrid. Meanwhile, the midfielder still has numerous links to Liverpool today – though they aren't the transfer ones you're thinking of.
